Need I say that Donald Trump made much money in this activity, the only one in which he was certifiably successful? If a crook has income to protect from scrutiny, then real estate is a good investment. It is the same for the Chinese Triads and the Japanese Yakuza in Hawaii or the Russki Mafiya in New York.
It is a better-recognized investment for people from places of shaky economics due to political instability 'back home'. Maybe Iranian and Pakistani aristocrats have good cause to hedge their bets on where to go in the event of a revolution that might seek to murder the economic elites of the recent past.

The government is not legitimate and has lost the consent of the people.
