Seconded.
(01-10-2017, 04:01 PM)taramarie Wrote: [ -> ]Thanks. Turns out it was a large internal ulcer which burst. They took samples all round my bowels and as i was not groggy and otherwise fine i was allowed to go home. I just got in 13 hours sleep. I have not had a proper sleep since the ordeal started 4 days ago. I am sore and weakened but happy i am alive and home. I have been instructed it could burst again and if so go to hosp immediately. I also have to go to the doc next week to see what the rest results show as to what caused the ulcer. They mentioned crohns disease whatever that is but could be other things too. But will see next week and will get medicine or advice from my gp.
I hope you are on the mend. Take it easy and use this time to indulge in guilty pleasures (i.e. watching trash TV, reading romances, or whatever floats your boat).
Thanks guys. Means a lot. I just woke up. No blood passed so that is a thumbs up. Hopefully I am a bit stronger today when walking round the house. Lol yes Wonkette I have been indulging in Youtube seeing as walking is clearly a no atm. Luckily I was holding onto something when the cat jumped on me as he just about bowled me over and he is a tiny thing. Kind of embarrassing how shaky I am atm. My mother is helping me when she can too which is nice. Keep up the painting/self expression pbrower!

I'm glad that you have no sign of any unwelcome 'positive'. I would have said more except that I am queasy about discussing the lower part of the digestive tract.

Yes anyone would be.. Has not been a great week for me. Just glad I survived.
I will be attending the Women's March this Saturday which as you all should know is a global movement against what Trump represents and some of the vile people who stand for him. Looking forward to it.

Wow! I didn't realize that it was global.

My 22-year-old daughter and I plan to be down in the Washington DC main march, since we only live about 5 miles from the White House/Capitol.

Oh yeah like over 30 countries are doing this march against the rise of the alt right as well as what Trump feeds and some of his followers. This is global. It pleases me that so many are standing up to this. You betcha I will take part in this.

So will the widow who has been showing some interest in me. She has a longer trip from Michigan.
You should join her.  Cheer from the sidelines or something.  Probably good for you.
Biopsy results for anyone interested ....clear. It was not the ulcer that burst. The bleeding was from the stomach doc says. As the colon is clear it was more than likely higher up. He says my symptoms sound like I have diverticulitis. It is something which is more common with older folk which makes me feel like a lively spring chicken hearing this. Apparently it can be very dangerous as you can bleed to death due to the stomach having so many blood vessels. So, yeah....least it is not cancer. I have been warned it could happen again. I am supposed to avoid certain foods, medicines, and certain drinks as well as eat or drink a lot of fiber.

Wow.  That's really rare!  Usually diverticula occur in the colon.  I've been hanging around the medical field for 40 years and never heard of a gastic diverticulum.  Kudos to your doctor for picking up something that rare.

Yeah colon was shown to be fine other than the ulcer which showed no sign that it had recently burst so they were questionable about that. So was decided given my symptoms and the fact it stopped bleeding on its own and i seem healthy otherwise that it is this condition and tbh i do not usually eat much fiber and i do have stomach issues already. While bleeding i could feel it filling up and bubbling quite high up and all the way down. I also already suffer from symptoms from IBS. But apparently this sort of condition gives of similar symptoms. Anyway i have surely bumped up my fiber intake hoping that eases off the chance of having that internal bleed again. I hear it is quite dangerous and i would rather avoid that. They saw no sign of diverticula in the colon so given the symptoms they assume it is higher up within the stomach. Lucky me! Sad btw thank you to everyone for your advice and well wishes. I appreciate it as this has been a very nasty scare for me.
well, tomorrow I go to see the specialist in Texas. I got here yesterday and fly home after the appointment. I'm nervous and hopeful all at the same time. I spent a lot of time, and money to get here on a chance to get this crap under control. The relaxation has been great. I've napped and watched netflix and read a bit. mostly enjoyed the alone time to unwind and not do a damn thing. Here's hoping. I'll let ya'll know what the doc says after I see her tomorrow.

Tara, glad you are doing better. go easy, you don't want to make it worse. trust me on this score. listen to your body.
Best of luck and hope all goes well Danilynn. Thanks for the advice. Will do.
Hi, I'm back! I haven't been on the forum at all lately because I was busy with school and, even though I'm still attending, hopefully I can make enough time so I can participate in this forum at least occasionally. I just finished my first semester and now I'm in my second.

I feel really guilty I wasn't on the forum during some recent historical events (most notably Trump's election and inauguration), because I would've loved to participate in some lovely discussion! I hope you guys could catch me up on what was going on in the forum since I've been off for 6 months!

I also wish the best for Tara and Dani! I hope you guys are feeling alright!

Good luck with the treatments  that you have chosen to take. May you get healthy enough to protest one or more misdeeds of the Trump regime!

Just the usual disagreements and the usual division. Be grateful you did not see it. People were cheering one side and panic for the end of the world and suicide debates on the other. I was going to attend the Women's March here in NZ but unfortunately my cat fell violently ill and had to be rushed to the vet. Just as well as i am still not 100 per cent yet. I am still getting pain from the biopsy. But hey least i am not bleeding from the stomach like I was. I am now on a high fiber diet. Fiber prevents formulation of divitculitis so i do advise it for everyone. You do not want something like that happening! Thanks for the well wishes.
