If anyone has more interesting links, please post them. You're welcome! RE: Generational Theory - Other Sites and Resources - sbarrera - 01-18-2022 Before I post links for the generations, starting with Boomers, I want to note that I don't have anything specific to the Silent Generation. You can find resources for that generation online, for example a blog post or a page on a site that gives some information about them. But nothing like a site devoted to that generation, by that generation and for that generation, as you can find for younger generations. There was one a while back; I know because I linked to it in my old blog, but the link is now dead. RE: Generational Theory - Other Sites and Resources - sbarrera - 01-18-2022 Here are some web sites specific to the Boomer generation. Some of these are a bit fluffy, basically marketing web sites, but there's some interesting nostalgia stuff that is specific to the Boomer experience. babyboomers.com https://www.babyboomers.com/ Boomer Baby! http://www.octanecreative.com/boomerbaby/ Boomer Café https://www.boomercafe.com/ BOOMERNET https://www.boomernet.com/ Boomers Life http://www.boomerslife.org/ Sixty & Me https://sixtyandme.com/ RE: Generational Theory - Other Sites and Resources - sbarrera - 01-19-2022 Before I post Gen X links, I'm going to skip to the Millennials. The reason is that there are actually not very many sites that are branded as Millennial sites. It's like the Millennial generation does not really embrace their own name, or doesn't want to be labelled as a generation at all. This is despite the fact that articles/posts/memes about Millennials are ubiquitous. So here is a blogger who has owned the Millennial label. But only sort of, if you go by the name of her blog. She has a pretty good Strauss & Howe background section, too. Unfortunately she hasn't been very active of late. So-Called Millennial https://socalledmillennial.com/ https://socalledmillennial.com/generational-cycles/ RE: Generational Theory - Other Sites and Resources - sbarrera - 01-19-2022 This marketing site gets its name from "Generation Y" which was what Millennials were called a long time ago. I include it here because the site has been around for so long; I linked to it on my old blog back in the early 2000s. YPULSE https://www.ypulse.com/ RE: Generational Theory - Other Sites and Resources - sbarrera - 01-20-2022 Here are some blogs by Gen Xers, which are consciously Gen X, meaning that the creators are owning their generational label. Some of these authors are aware of Strauss & Howe theory as well, as you can tell from some of their posts (one of these authors we've seen already in other links). The Gen X Files (David Sohigian) https://www.thegenxfiles.com/ GEN X GIRLS GROW UP (Erin Mantz) https://www.genxgirlsgrowup.com/ The Jennifer Chronicles (Jennifer McCollum) https://www.jenx67.com/ Jessie X (Jessie Newburn) https://hometowncolumbia.wordpress.com/category/generational-musings/ The Shape of X (someone born in '72) https://shapeofx.blogspot.com/ RE: Generational Theory - Other Sites and Resources - sbarrera - 01-21-2022 Gen Xers love podcasts. There are a whole slew of Gen X branded podcasts out there, mostly nostalgia themed. Why do Gen Xers love podcasts so much? Something, maybe, about wanting to be sure their voices are heard. About wanting to be remembered. For starters, here is a list of nostalgia themed Gen X podcasts. Some also have YouTube channels. I wouldn't be surprised if there are others that I've missed. RE: Generational Theory - Other Sites and Resources - sbarrera - 01-21-2022 Another kind of Gen X podcast has a theme of affirmation - my story counts, I deserve to be heard. This is what I was getting to with the idea that Gen Xers want to be remembered, like in their famous theme song from the end of The Breakfast Club. Another kind of resource which is indirectly connected to generations is nostalgia-type sites, related to a particular time period. I might post some links later. If anyone has any generations links I missed, please post them here. Thanks for creating a link-library. Judging by how weird things are right now, we may need it soon. RE: Generational Theory - Other Sites and Resources - sbarrera - 01-24-2022 Missed a podcast. Pop Culture Preservation Society Pop culture nuggets of the classic Gen X childhood https://www.poppreservationists.com/ RE: Generational Theory - Other Sites and Resources - sbarrera - 03-17-2022 A couple more YouTube channels of note: Shug McKnight So far has one short video with a review of turnings which is well done and entertaining. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5BzWWbNpXIwyqhZXGdh-mQ The Conch Republic Has a few videos exploring the idea of a meta-saeculum, with a really cool spiral chart.
