In a piece just this morning Thom Hartmann presents a very strong indictment of the Reagan effect going back to his time as governor of California. And he indicts many of his own generation for "drinking the Kool-Aid so to speak. They fell for it hook, line and sinker, thinking of Reagan as being the greatest thing to come along since sliced bread. That's not surprising, really. Reagan had a sunny personality and cheerful way about him. That he also thought the neoliberal dogma was the delivered truth (I do think that's the case, btw) guaranteed that the sale would go through. When a first-class salesman sells his beliefs, assume the sale every time. |
