The weather has now changed and the forecast is for this 2017 storm to build. It will be primarily a domestic storm, some kind of revolution and/or civil strife, as the divisions in our country lead to fundamental choices we must make. No, the storm is here; not with China. We have no beef with China that's worth nuclear war or huge invasions. We are mutually dependent. Trump is the catalyst, and the opposition to him is the regeneracy. It must be unrelenting from now on, until we take power again and through further domestic struggle enact the reforms we need.

There is a way in which what you're predicting and hoping for is possible, and that is some sort of socialist revolution.  Perhaps it would also be possible to have a civil war, with the country breaking into pieces, with one or more of the pieces representing the values you share.  Such things are absolutely possible in a Crisis.

The socialist revolution that took place almost a century ago in Russia would be a catastrophe. I can easily imagine parts of America responding differently to a despotic President. So far, Republicans have every imaginable edge because they have the rural areas and Democrats have the cities. Cut off the water, fuel, and electricity to the cities and the rebellion starves. We have yet to see how the elections of 2018 will go. Democrats have far more Senate seats up for challenge than do Republicans. At least as significant are gubernatorial elections in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Florida.

Quote:I think a socialist revolution is entirely unlikely, as the climate for it does not exist here.  The average person is too well off, and socialism (beyond the socialist programs we already have, such as social security) is not well regarded.

Socialist revolutions typically occur in countries with incompetent leadership, no heritage of democracy, excessive centralization of industry, and a social breakdown during the early stage of industrialization. A consumer society makes a Lenin, Mao, Tito, Hoxha, Ho Chi Minh, or Castro impossible.

Much of the world is on the brink of something because the struggle to produce enough consumer goodies to make people happy is over. People may need less stuff because they are living in smaller dwellings, and mere possession of stuff hardly impresses people any more.

Quote:The country breaking into pieces is more likely.  I can easily see it being sparked by the legalization of marijuana in the western states, for example.  The federal government attempts to crack down on marijuana sales in Colorado or Washington State, the state in question calls out the police and the national guard to defend its citizens, and various states start taking sides.  I see this as more of a more of a last ditch scenario, though, where the country can't find any other reasonable way of acting out the crisis and just breaks into pieces.  I don't think much of the country would end up with the set of values you're hoping for if this is how the crisis plays out, though.

The usual cause -- while things are going badly, someone in a high position does something stupid.

Here's a Democrat that certainly has a clue.

She is deceived about some things. She has no clue about them. I would never trust her.

She is a threat to sensible policies. She won't make it to the big House. Put your hopes in someone who can see reality.

I am trying my best to pump some daylight here, yes. I hope some day you can see the light, Bronsin. The majority of Americans (by 3 million) seemed to feel differently from you. It's a divided country, but a decision will come, and it will be another 12 years before we know for sure what that decision will be.

Your hope about who has had their day, may disappoint you. The Boomers by now are more conservative even than Xers, and Millennials are more Dem, and more diverse.

RE: The failure of the Democratic Party - Eric the Green - 02-06-2017

I don't know if a chart could verifiably prove such a thing as "easily deceived" about anyone, beyond a reasonable doubt.

http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Tulsi_Gabbard

I see that she has big trines of planets to Neptune, and so she's certainly capable of spinning big dreams and fantasies. The Mars trine Neptune is a detriment to getting elected, because it makes candidates into crusaders and that turns off some Americans. The crusades may be right, or wrong, but Americans don't tend to buy into them too much. They want a president who can deal with realities. Of course, they also prefer style over substance, and prefer to just elect someone whom they feel is a "leader" regardless of where they would take the country. An idealistic or reactionary crusader like Tulsi, or Ron Paul, who also has this aspect, gets some negative points on my system. This aspect does not do well according to my research.

Other candidates with Mars trine or sextile Neptune include: Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, Chris Christie, Barry Goldwater (Republicans), and John Edwards, Jerry Brown (our "governor Moonbeam"), Walter Mondale, George McGovern, Hubert Humphrey (Democrats).

Elected presidents with this aspect include a typical example: Teddy Roosevelt. Also Coolidge and B. Harrison (won electoral college only).

Interestingly, Hillary also has a Mars-Neptune sextile, as do I myself. Bernie does not have a trine or sextile between these planets.

Tulsi's exact Venus-Neptune trine is also a borderline unfavorable aspect for candidates. I haven't assigned a negative point to it yet, but, if Tulsi runs and loses....

Wow, Jesus Christ had the Sun opposite Pluto too. No wonder she's getting crucified

Aries is dominant, she's a leader & a person of action. Also Libra, she can work with ppl & Jupiter & Saturn are conjunct Eric! The girl's destined for some kind of greatness. Even if she don't become Prez, she's gonna make some kind of lasting contribution to society. Legislation, mebbe? The conjunction's in Libra & she's in the House

She's not getting crucified; millions of Syrians are getting crucified and exiled merely for asking the government of Butcher Assad to help them.

Interesting group with Sun opposite Pluto includes Teddy Roosevelt and Frederich Nietszche who signed his last letter "The Crucified"

Oh I have always seen the light. The darkness has always been the far left, socialist network. Baby Boomers are all on their way to the Golf courses and retirement communities. Crusty old critters like Pelosi, Fienstein, and Steinham should take the hint and head out to pasture. Their shtick was only popular with a few to start with, and has gotten completely stale with the rest of us.

I don't see that you answered my points. Not only are the older ones not going away as fast as they did before, and certainly not as fast as you'd like, but the younger ones are less conservative and further left than the older ones. Older voters dying off will only benefit the Left now. And it's the voters who count, and who have saddled us with your kind in power for far, far too long. I'd say 40 years of your kind calling the shots is way, way, way too long Bronsin.

Feinstein? Pelosi? You really think voters in CA will replace them with conservatives? I doubt you can tell much difference ideologically between Barbara Boxer and Kamala Harris. And have you noticed the skin color of the latter lady, and that she spoke at the women's march?

From here.

Susan Rice makes a funny.

"The U.S. has long upheld international law. This was the most brazen violation of another country's sovereignty that's occurred in recent years," she said

Huh?   hahahahahaahahahahaahahahahahahahhahahahahahaha Tongue Big Grin

Susan, the US doesn't uphold international law either.
Here's a list.

Are you gonna speak up about US dark sites and Gina Haspel?  CBS needs to wake up and ask guests about these inconvenient truths.

The biggest change in US foreign affairs is the Trumpsters seemingly unending need to poke his finger in the eyes of our friends and laud in glowing terms the worst of the worst.  It's hard to even know what motivates this, since the behavior is totally irrational.

We're not angles, but at least we've been reasonably predictable in the past.  Now we're not … and the world is full of nukes.  There's a lot said for being that boring country.
