I ran into this comment on Reddit that I think sums up best what's going on with Sessions:

Yes. Now you see, "moral authority" is some pretty looking meme that justifies military action/subjugation of "the people" who live in the targeted country.
It's like the "human rights" meme as it applies to Arab countries that have had "Arab Spring". I rather doubt the "deep state" doesn't give a rat's ass to the idea that "human rights" is what is passed off as to propaganda [deliberately stated] so as to brainwash the masses to support the already planned, war on x, where x = actual nation state or transnational entity. 2. Our disagreement wrt drugs seems to be life experience based.
a. you experienced a very negative fallout from being allowed at our age to do substances.
b. Then as may/may not have been communicated out. I'll fall on my sword here, OK?
c. Yeah, the sword cut hurt. I'll narrow my definition of "legal medical marijuana" since that's what I get from how Pres. Trump sees the issue at hand.
d. "Medical Marijuana" shall be licensed to state sanctioned [fees paid, proper inspections of record/cash infolow/outfolows/] Each medical marijuana dispensary shall keep accurate records of their patients. A full accounting of marijuana purchaser license/purchase shall be kept. Will that work for you as a compromise? I certainly know more research needs to be done, however, I think weed, the plant should be a schedule III , along with Marinol. If this is not sufficient, post what reforms, etc.
