Anyone here know their Enneagram Type? - JasonBlack - 05-14-2022

For those of you who are unfamiliar, a very basic overview of each of the 9 types from Enneagram Institute is shown below. In a nutshell, the Enneagram is is a model of ego orientation and worldview. It begins with core fears and motivations that shape how we view ourselves, the world arounds us, and the defense mechanisms we feel compelled to develop to defend ourselves from said fears.

1 THE REFORMER
The Rational, Idealistic Type: Principled, Purposeful, Self-Controlled, and Perfectionistic

2 THE HELPER
The Caring, Interpersonal Type: Demonstrative, Generous, People-Pleasing, and Possessive

3 THE ACHIEVER
The Success-Oriented, Pragmatic Type: Adaptive, Excelling, Driven, and Image-Conscious

4 THE INDIVIDUALIST
The Sensitive, Withdrawn Type: Expressive, Dramatic, Self-Absorbed, and Temperamental

5 THE INVESTIGATOR
The Intense, Cerebral Type: Perceptive, Innovative, Secretive, and Isolated

6 THE LOYALIST
The Committed, Security-Oriented Type: Engaging, Responsible, Anxious, and Suspicious

7 THE ENTHUSIAST
The Busy, Fun-Loving Type: Spontaneous, Versatile, Distractible, and Scattered

8 THE CHALLENGER
The Powerful, Dominating Type: Self-Confident, Decisive, Willful, and Confrontational

9 THE PEACEMAKER
The Easygoing, Self-Effacing Type: Receptive, Reassuring, Agreeable, and Complacent

If you are interested past learning about your main type, you might also consider the following

Enneagram types can also be broken down into a number of triads, with the most basic being the division between
- gut types: 1, 8 and 9
- heart types: 2, 3 and 4
- head types: 5, 6 and 7

In addition to your main type, you also have
1) a "wing": an influence from one of the types on either side of your main type. For example, a 7 can be either a 7 with a 6 wing/7w6 (quick-witted, entertaining, often a bit goofy. think Robbin Williams) or a 7 with an 8 wing/7w8 (hedonistic, amibitious, opportunistic, adventurous. think Jack Nicholson).
2) a "tritype": two secondary influences from the other two bodily centers. for example, let's say you are a 3 (heart type). you would also have an influence from one of the head types (5, 6 or 7) and one of the gut types (1, 8 or 9).
3) an "instinctual stacking": most human instincts fall into three basal categories: Self-Preservation, Sexual and Social. You have one instinct which is a dominant neurosis in your life, another which is a blindspot, and a middle which occupies a more "Goldie Lochs" position. (note: there is considerable debate in the Enneagram community about how these are defined)

Type 5, wing 4.

Enneagram types reflect planetary types.

interesting, if I had to guess, Social dominant and 521 tritype (very community oriented with more dislike of boundaries than I see in most 5s).

Personally, I am often reclusive and tend to protect my own space. Reflexively. More oriented to expressing my creative contributions than doing caring service work.

Uranus and Neptune, the generational planets, linked obviously to types 5 and 4, are the ones I identified with strongly as soon as I read about them. Then looking up their positions, I saw that Neptune is aligned closely with my Sun just as I thought, and Uranus is right on my Ascendant just as I thought.

And as it turned out, the number 54 has a unique significance to me too. And to music and to universal patterns I identify with.

Just in case you or anyone here are interested in music and the number 54, as an interesting aside, Lenny knows! Talking and singing to Harvard students.
