Homophobia in different generations - JasonBlack - 07-20-2022

Before I begin, the point is not that most people are homophobic, or to say one generation is more homophobic than the other. It's more that, when people are homophobic, the reasoning therefore tends to break down based on generation.

In my experience, it looks something like this
homophobic boomers: think being gay is against God's plan
homophobic Gen Xers: associate homosexuality with being a pussy
homophobic millennials: dissociate from homosexuals because they think they're weird.
homophobic Zoomers: paranoid that gay men are going to rape them

Ironically, zoomers are fairly accepting of gay people overall, but when they aren't, they are the most homophobic in the literal sense of the word.

well, I think all those reasons happened in all generations. I certainly experienced this knowing all these generations.

It is little tolerated except in the most backward milieus such as religious fundamentalists and the semi-literate. Jokes about homosexuality that may have been passable before AIDS are about as acceptable as Polish jokes now. Homosexuality has gone mainstream in return for gays and lesbians kicking the child-abusing perverts under the bus. Such is what one would expect among people who have children.
