Not surprising, as this is an unsafe practice. Turn off the phone whole you cross a street, and take off the earbuds. As a pedestrian you have some responsibility to make sure that you can hear what is going on -- like some distracted, drunk, or drowsy driver. You may have the right-of-way, but that is not something to prove by getting hurt, let alone crippled or killed.

Americans either don't know or want to know that the US is collapsing or think that nothing can be done to save the USA. Any plans or ideas to slow or escape the decay are quickly shot down as unworkable.
Instead of demanding that minimum wages be repealed or checkpoints be ended, Americans would rather beg for their chains by asking for more laws.
