North Korea can be made an example of by a preemptive nuclear strike, the particulars of mopping up North Korea can be negotiated with China in regards to the occupation of the Yalu line or possibly a Chinese occupation of North Korea. Making an Example of North Korea also helps the situation with Iran and bolsters deterrence with both Russia and China.

Exactly.  The Chinese could install an actual puppet state in North Korea that would sign on to a nuclear free peninsula, instead of the independent actor that North Korea is now.

? In the meantime Seoul becomes a rubble heap from convential artillery , unless y'all want to nuke the DMZ which wouldn't work either. Last time I checked fallout's a bitch.

Ah yes, take "collateral damage" to a whole new level.

There's also the issue that China WANTS to have a nuclear-armed North
Korea to draw forces away when China attacks the United States.  So
right now China is just playing a game, pretending to care.

OK, so the most optimal strategy is to nuke NK and accept the "collateral damage" to South Korea as something to go into the by any means necessary folder?

N.B. I'm not suggesting that myself holds any opinion.  I am seeking the most optimal strategy to follow. Of course all should know that China in this case wants to nuke us. I don't blindly accept any theory as to what shall transpire henceforth. You have your theory and others have theirs.  I just want the optimal response program for any theory, even S&H.   For example, during the 2008 debacle, banksters should have been jailed , fiscal policy, not monetary policy be employed to increase spending over a certain amount of time on more than "shovel ready" stuff. I'd also raise the marginal rates so the beneficiaries of tinkle down pony up a bit for the mess they themselves as the way up 1% Cool

RE: Generational Dynamics World View - Cynic Hero '86 - 08-24-2017

The events of WW1 and WW2 made america into the premier great power in the world. However the political system and constitutional framework of our country dates from the 18th Century when we were a small frontier nation that did everything possible to keep imperial great powers away. The world wars however made america into an imperial power, in direct contradiction to the assumptions of constitutional framework. The WW2 generations tackled this and kicked this can down the road by having the defense commitments of an imperial great power but keeping the benign policies of a constitutional republic. The Selfishness of the boomer is due to their extreme desire to base america and the "american spirit" on the now outdated constitutional framework and the boomer assumption that imperial america is the outlier. Xers and Millies however want to continue the evolution of America into a real imperial power and into a real empire, which IS the logical conclusion of the world wars and the cold war and their effects on the evolution of our country. The extreme selfishness of the boomer is traced directly to the boomers desire to reestablish the old republican framework that existed before 1900. The boomer refuse to allow anyone younger than them to be at the helm because they know the younger generations support completing the conversion of America into an empire. This is in direct contradiction of the boomers love-affair with republics and their ideals of having a world without imperial nations.

Hillary Clinton has been whining because during the debate her "skin
crawled" because she had to be in proximity of Donald Trump who
"bragged about groping women."

Has there ever been a more pathetic candidate for president than this
woman? And she has a lot of nerve to complain about "groping women"
when at least 7 women said that her husband, Bill Clinton, had
violently raped them. And these raped women were raped again by
Hillary Clinton who treated them abusively. Really, this woman is
disgusting.

And now we hear that the Democrats are moving in the direction of
Bernie Sanders and Socialism, even though we can see the results of
Socialism unfolding every day in Venezuela, and Socialism has never
meant anything but starvation, atrocities, mass slaughter, and
enormous bloodshed. Socialism has killed many times more people than
Naziism, and is much more evil than Naziism, and yet the evil of
Socialism is glorified by many Democrats, especially Millies and Xers.

If it had been up to the Millennials and the Gen-Xers, these loony
tunes could be running the country, causing more poverty, death and
destruction.

So instead of always criticizing Boomers, you should be grateful that
there are still some of us around, trying to keep you Millies and Xers
from destroying yourselves and everyone else.

First of all what does Hillary Clinton, the personification of the boomer establishment have to do with Xers and Millies opposition to the boomer establishment. Clintonism is the exact opposite of Xers and Millies preferred policies. Boomers are tyrannically trying to preserve an globalist "world democratic" system that is clearly outdated. When reasoned debate on anything that remotely resembles strategy is forbidden simply because the boomer sees having such a formulation to be immoral, the fault that the political and global order is crumbling clearly rests upon that boomer generation who shut down and forbade debate. The Selfish Boomer routinely throws away american interests in favor of the delusion of wanting america be the good guy.

Because the Xers and Millies favored her over Trump.

One Boomer in a million may shout a bit.
Now and then, there's one with slight defects.
One perhaps whose truthfulness you doubt a bit,
But by and large we are a marvelous generation!

The Boomers imposed tyranny upon Xers and Millies and tyranny onto america in general. Look at the efficiency of Countries like China, and Russia, as well as other countries such as Vietnam, Iran, Turkey, even North Korea. These as well as historical examples such as the USSR, Nazi Germany, Imperial Japan, Maoist China, Imperial Germany, Napoleonic France as well as earlier examples such as the mongol empire, the Roman empire, The holy Roman empire, the original Caliphate, England From William The Conqueror to the glorious revolution I. Examples such as these are studied often by xers and Millies in their spare time. The boomer on the other hand subjected the young to tyranny by stunting their political development by forcing globalistic ideology derived from Pitt and Churchill and formulated by the likes of Christopher Hitchens and then the boomer rammed this decadence down the young's throats. That is why the young refers to the boomer as selfish, the boomer is such by suppressing the younger generations particular generational character. The Boomer then attempts to influence politics in such a way that when the next major international breakdown occurs which constitutes the crisis era and crisis war occurs; that it would be based around defending the boomers Churchillian doctrines. The Xer and Millie has no interest in Burke/Churchill values and admire that polities that I've outlined earlier in this paragraph.

Actually, I doubt that even 1% of Millies and Xers have even heard of
the places you've mentioned, or would have even the vaguest clue what
you're talking about. The only reason that they wanted to elect
Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders is not for the reason you gave, but
because they want stuff for free, without having to work for it.

Yeah the boomer should just be allowed to hoover up all the resources without contributing to the general welfare. Given this really, it is reasonable that said gravy train should be redirected to more worthy hands. Only a selfish boomer denies these basic facts.

Only a boomer who has worked hard for decades and paid all kinds of

You appear to be ignorant of how the Chinese operate. If the Chinese installed a puppet state (but, how is the current state not a puppet state? ... a debate for another day ... ), they would be ambiguous about the nuclear status of that state. Most likely, it would remain nuclear in reality.

Semi related question, what is the equivalent of nuclear detente, SALT, START, etc treaties with the PRC. Oooooops, nothing there. They can do what they want. They declare nothing. There are no inspections.

China would be more than willing to agree to a denuclearized Korean peninsula, especially of denuclearization included removal of ABM systems.  A nuclear North Korea does them no good; anything that can be hit from North Korea can be hit from China without the risks of North Korea drifting out of their orbit again.

As for treaties, of course there aren't any - because any treaties like the ones with the Soviet Union would work to the disadvantage of the US.  The Chinese are way behind on nuclear weapons; why limit ourselves and let them catch up?

There's nothing contradictory between our Constitutional framework and an American empire.  The Constitution only protects American citizens and, to a lesser extent, residents; that's in no way inconsistent with a maritime or overseas empire.  Britain had a constitutional government at home while ruling colonies overseas; why would an American empire need to do anything different?

I would agree that Presidents Clinton and, especially, Obama, and even Bush to some extent, seemed to want to extend privileges similar to those guaranteed in the constitution to the whole world.  Nothing in the Constitution requires that, though, and I think Trump, also a Boomer, recognizes that.  What more do you want?

The American system through the 1980s was much more efficient than the examples you mention; that is, after all, why we won the Cold War and Russia's Soviet empire did not.  A socialist economic system likewise relegated China to being an also ran.

I'll grant that was largely due to a Civic President - Reagan - and not to a Boomer.  But I'll also point out that was after a series of Civic Presidents, from Kennedy through Carter, had frittered away most of the advantages we had coming out of WWII.  Boomers have not done worse than that.

In 2005, European leaders were stunned when France overwhelmingly
rejected the proposal to ratify a new EU constitution.

Those who campaigned against ratification in the French referendum
used the code words "Preserving national identity" to disparage east
European countries. During the campaign, the low-paid Polish plumber
who steals a job away from a well-paid Frenchman became the symbol of
the opponents.

France and Poland have continued to have an uncomfortable relationship
since then, and France's new president Emmanuel Macron has inflamed
the relationship by accusing Poland and other countries of "social
dumping." Speaking during a visit to Romania, Macron said:

>
<QUOTE>"Some political or business circles seek to use the
> EU's funds while at the same time developing a system of social
> and fiscal dumping. [Failure to reform] will lead to the
> dismantling of the European Union. Part of Britain's Brexit vote
> was down to the poor functioning of the single market on posted
> worker rules, and the rules we have on social
> rights."<END QUOTE>
Speaking in Austria, Macron said

>
<QUOTE>"The single European market and the free movement of
> workers is not meant to create a race to the bottom in terms of
> social regulations.
>
> I think that Europe should protect [its citizens], and in that
> way, the European integration project should get a new
> meaning. Ultimately our citizens want to free themselves from the
> pressures of globalization.
>
> A Europe that protects is also in the position to solve the
> problem of posted workers. The posted workers directive, as it
> currently works, is a betrayal of the European spirit ... This
> only fuels populism in our countries."<END QUOTE>
The reference to "posted workers" is to a law that allows a company in
a low-paying EU country (Poland) to send a worker to a high-paying EU
country (France) without having to meet local labor regulations,
including union-negotiated salaries and benefits.

Poland's Prime Minister Beata Szydlo said on Thursday:

>
<QUOTE>"We are not going to change our stance. We will defend
> our position to the very end, because it is a position that is in
> the interests of Polish workers."<END QUOTE>
**** Britain sees a big fall in net migration since Brexit vote
****

It's good to remember every now and then that while the most
inflammatory aspect of Britain's migration issue is Muslim migrants
from Syria or Africa, the actual target of those who favored Brexit
was the Christian migrants from Poland and other low-paying eastern
European countries.

New figures from Britain's Office of National Statistics reveal that
net migration (subtracting the number that leave from the number that
arrive) has fallen sharply since the Brexit, down 81,000 to 246,000 in
the 12 months ending in March.

There was a particularly sharp rise (17,000) of citizens of the
so-called EU8 or A8 countries. These are countries that joined the EU
during its enlargement in 2004, and include Czech Republic, Estonia,
Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.

However, the Brexit vote may not fully explain the fall in net
migration. Since the Brexit referendum, the value of the pound
sterling currency has fallen sharply. Last June, the pound bought
almost 6 Polish zlotys. Today, it buys only 4.6 zlotys. It may be
that east Europeans are leaving Britain because it no longer makes
economic sense.

The food industry is expressing alarm over the outflow of EU workers.
A survey of food industry businesses found that 31% were already
losing EU workers, and 36% said they would become unviable if the
trend continued. The survey was of businesses in the "farm-to-fork"
supply chain, including the agricultural, food, drink and
manufacturing sectors. BBC and BBC

The Boomer refuses to sign any real agreements with either China or Russia. The boomer refuses to build up the military, even after 9/11 the boomer decided the attacks "weren't large enough" to have the military be a wartime footing. The same boomers refuses to use divide and rule to negotiate an alliance with either Russia or China against the other Nation, because the boomer would only be satisfied when western-style democracy is installed in both countries. RE: Generational Dynamics World View - Cynic Hero '86 - 08-25-2017

Tyrannical boomers are governing purely based on their dogmas. Just look at current events: The Boomer injects the US into the China/India dispute even though both countries regard the issue as one between their own countries. Neither China or India has asked the US to mediate, they just want us to stay out and let them fight. The Boomer refuses to allow a preemptive war against north Korea, and appears to be quietly backing down in the standoff. To add insult to injury, the boomer government then lies about having done so to the American People. Boomers are tyrants who see the US as merely a vehicle to impose their disgusting ideology and boomers seem to only care about imposing globalist tyranny and human rights tyranny

Only a boomer who has worked hard for decades and paid all kinds of
taxes his whole life, is fully justified in denying your so-called
basic facts, before you send him off to your death panel.

Yingluck Shinawatra has fled Thailand to escape sentencing

Police in Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, are searching for
former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, for whom an arrest warrant
was issued after she failed to show up for a sentencing hearing which
might have put her in jail for decades. Her commerce minister,
Boonsong Teriyapirom, did show up for sentencing, and was sentenced to
42 years in jail.

Yingluck became prime minister in 2011, after winning an election decisively,
after a campaign in which
she promised to use 'femininity' to resolve disputes.

However, she was ousted by a military coup in 2014. The ruling
military junta then impeached her retroactively and froze her assets.
She was then tried and convicted for improperly administering a rice
subsidy program that that mostly targeted the poor indigenous
Thai-Thai people in northern Thailand.

She was to be sentenced on Friday, but she failed to show up in court,
and is now believed to have fled to another country, such as
Singapore, Hong Kong or Dubai. Her location has not been confirmed,
but unnamed sources say that she's joined her brother in Dubai.

Her brother is former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, a
telecommunications magnate turned politician who was ousted as prime
minister in 2006 and fled the country in 2008 when he was convicted
for conflict of interest. Since then, he's been living in exile in
Dubai and London.

Both Yingluck and Thaksin are extremely popular. The ruling military
junta is being blamed for letting her escape, but there are suspicions
that they purposely let her go, rather than risk massive protests if
she were sent to jail. The Nation (Thailand) and Straits Times (Singapore) and CNN

**** Collapse of Thailand's democracy

Thailand adopted a constitution in 1997 that was supposed to guarantee
that the country would be governed by free and fair democratic
elections. Unfortunately for the country's Thai-Chinese elite
minority, the winners of the last five elections have all been
candidates from the Pheu Thai political party, which represents the
interests of the Thai-Thai indigenous population.

On the one side, you have the market-dominant "yellow shirt"
light-skinned elites, also called "Thai-Chinese," since almost all of
them are descendants of Chinese, comprising about 1/4 of the
population, living mostly around the capital city Bangkok.

On the other side, you have the "red shirt" dark-skinned lower class
indigenous people, also called "Thai-Thai," comprising about 3/4 of
the population, living mostly in the northern and northeastern regions
of Thailand, but who come to Bangkok mostly to work in menial jobs
serving the Thai-Chinese.

Obviously, if elections are fought along ethnic lines, then the party
representing the Thai-Thai is going to win every time. The yellow
shirt elites have used a variety of techniques, from violent protests
to army coups, to overturn these elections. The Thai-Thai hero
Thaksin Shinawatra was prime minister until 2006, when an army coup
forced him out of office. His sister Yingluck was forced out
of office in 2014.

Incidentally, my favorite story in this saga occurred in December
2008. ( "Thailand government collapses, ending crippling riots from class war"
.) A
candidate representing Thai-Thai, Samak Sundaravej, had been elected
prime minister. After violent protests by the yellow shirts, he was
forced to step down, because a court removed him from office because
he had previously had a cooking show on tv, and that was somehow
considered a conflict of interest. That's how ridiculous Thailand's
government has become.

So the ruling military junta is under pressure to allow new elections,
but everybody knows that the Thai-Thai candidate, possibly even
another member of the Shinawatra family, will win again. So the junta
is amending the constitution to make sure that only the elite
Thai-Chinese win elections. Bangkok Post

**** Brief generational history of Thailand
****

Part of Thailand's history was made famous by Anna Leonowens, who came
from London to Siam (as it was known then) to be the governess and
teacher of the many children of King Mongkut (Rama IV) in the 1860s.
In 1895, she wrote memoirs that were turned into a film, "Anna and the
King of Siam" in 1946, and into the 1952 Rodgers and Hammerstein
Broadway musical, "The King and I."

If you have a few minutes, then watch the YouTube video of "The
March of the Siamese Children," from the 1956 film, "The King and I."
It depicts Anna's first meeting with the children.

The play depicts a troubled king trying to lead a small country
surrounded by large enemies, and willing to use invasion, torture and
other atrocities.

King Rama had fought a generational crisis war in the early 1830s when
he had invaded Laos and Cambodia, but ended up losing to a Vietnamese
army.

Siam's next generational crisis war occurred in what is now southern
Thailand. For centuries, Siam's kings had felt that the Muslims in
southern Siam were a major threat to the security of the country,
mainly because resistance and rebellion against Thai government rule
were so strong among the Muslim population, and in fact the
southern Muslims had revolted during the 1830s crisis war.

By the late 1800s this threat had been felt to be critical, and in
1902 King Rama V invaded and annexed the Malay kingdom of Patani,
consisting of the four provinces of Satun, Yala, Pattani and
Narathiwat. (Note: The kingdom is spelled "Patani," while the
province is spelled "Pattani.") In 1909, an Anglo-Siamese Agreement
established the present border between Thailand and Malaysia.

During the next few decades, Siam (which became Thailand in 1939) was
faced with the problem of trying to assimilate the southern Muslim
population into what is essentially a Buddhist country. During the
generational Awakening era that followed, the military coup of 1932
overthrew the absolute monarchy in Siam and replaced it with
constitutional monarchy. This was a representative form of government
that promised a high degree of political participation of the
Malay-Muslims in the South. However, as World War II (an Awakening
era war for Thailand) approached, the country became more
Thai-nationalistic, and the country adopted a policy of forced
assimilation towards the Muslims, which had little success,
as resistance and rebellion have continued since then.

The 1930s also saw a large influx of migrants from China, coming to
the country to work. Over the decades, they were able to displace the
indigenous people in positions of power in government, and in control
of businesses. This formed an ethnic fault line between the
indigenous Thai-Thai majority and the elite Thai-Chinese minority.

The next generational crisis war was the Cambodian "killing fields"
war, 1975-79, in which Pol Pot's communist Khmer Rouge government,
backed by China, killed almost ten million people in a massive
genocide. The Cambodian war spilled over into Thailand in the form of
a communist rebellion that had begun in the 1960s. King Bhumibol
(Rama IX) became an essential figure in the fight against the
communists, although his role became more controversial in the savage
anti-leftist coup of 1976, in which dozens of students were brutally
killed by the security forces and royal-backed militias, and thousands
forced to flee to seek sanctuary with the Communist Party.

The Cambodian "killing fields" civil war took place on Thailand's
doorstep, though not on Thai soil. Still, it caused a split along the
Thai-Thai versus Thai-Chinese fault line that continues to the present
time. Today, Thailand is in a new generational Awakening/Unraveling
era, and we're seeing a repeat of what happened in the 1930s.

During the generational Awakening era of the 1930s, the military
coup of 1932 overthrew the absolute monarchy in Siam and replaced it
with constitutional monarchy that gave some power to the southern
Muslims, only to have it taken away a few years later.

During the current era, the 1997 constitution guaranteed free
elections for everyone, including the indigenous Thai-Thai,
and now that's being taken away by a military junta.
