We. Have. Been. And, how have you been had? All this stuff is stuff Trump ran on. People should have known this was what they were voting for. RE: We. Have. Been. I saw through him early. I saw the unscrupulous liar and demagogue, and not a conventional conservative. I see his hollowness. Maybe I didn't vote for him; in fact I actively campaigned for Hillary Clinton. But I am stuck with the result, as is every non-rich American who isn't fortunate enough to be an ex-pat. RE: We. Have. Simple answer. He didn't vote for Trump. RE: We. Have. Been. Had. - Odin - 01-11-2017 Tax cuts = deficits. Can't you guys do math? Oh wait, I already know the stock answer, get rid of the social safety net in order to balance the budget and let the poor die. RE: We. Have. Been. I recognized Donald Trump as a liar and a horrible person. Mocking a reporter with neurological problems? (That hits home, Galen!) Saying the horrid things he said about certain minorities? Couldn't see something wrong with David DuKKKe? Bragging about 'grabbing women by their crotches'? Having the arrogance to say that he knows more than the generals? Bigoted, arrogant, deceitful, and having a sickening combination of amorality and self-righteousness? That is Donald Trump. I might not have voted for a conservative Republican who admitted that he was part of the Establishment, but with someone like Mitt Ro9mney, Jeb Bush, or John Kasich we would at least have some continuity in the good-sense foreign policy that kept America out of some unwelcome situations... and whacked the most infamous terrorist of all time. I could predict that Donald Trump, secretive about his agenda until he formed his proposed Cabinet, would stab the working people of America in the back -- and his Cabinet choices show that. What can one expect of someone with the morals of a juvenile delinquent? ...Not that I quite want to compare him to Hitler, but there was one traditionalist conservative who recognized Hitler as a mean-spirited demagogue who believed that the world must conform to the internal 'reality' that Hitler had -- Sir Winston Churchill. I see through our President-Elect. Trump can't be all bad -- but millions of Americans will be wise to have a passport ready, sell off their stuff, and have a foreign bank account. Churchill recognized the difference between a conventional conservative, a traditionalist like himself, and someone claiming to be a socialist yet getting the support of the most rapacious plutocrats. Sure, he will bring back jobs -- by abolishing the minimum wage, eviscerating unions, and allowing management to become more reckless about workplace safety. The elites will pay less in payroll... and workers will simply have to work more ho0urs to enhance the profits and executive compensation of their masters. I knew when I was ten or so to not make jokes about the handicapped. I knew around that time that there are certain parts of the female anatomy a man (or boy) does not touch without her consent. I knew enough to not smear people for ethnicity or religion. I knew enough to be honest about my intentions -- and that to avoid trouble, have honorable intentions. I have been through conservative governments. Those are good times for scaling back some of the excesses of liberalism. Donald Trump wants to turn the calendar back to the 1920s, when plutocrats were all-powerful and anyone not a WASP knew his subordinate role in society. I am old enough to remember people who lived through both the Roaring Twenties (OK, they weren't all that fun in rural areas) and the Great Depression. They blamed the Roaring Twenties for the Great Depression and recognized that by the late 1930s,. still generally reckoned (and rightly so) as Depression years, things were already better than they had been in the late 1920s. |
