Well, I Took A Nap, And...

Sad
Heavens To Elvis, the world went even madder.

To sum up, my job gave me an MI. I had to quit. Engineering and IT are nakedly ageist. So, I've been filling in with my own gigs, and temp work. I live on water, and oatmeal. I've lost teeth, because I could not afford dental care. I have no health insurance- the ACA is a mockery in my red state.

I no longer watch the news, or follow politics closely anymore. Possible Crisis sign?

I've pretty much given up, especially after November 2017. My own state's governor was forced to resign by his *fellow Republicans* due to his shenanigans. Criminal charges are up in the air, still.

I can't even get PBS in my low-rent apartment. All I watch is over the internet, and that is rare. I literally am disconnected from modern society.

Perhaps this is how Crisis' come about- the last restraints are gone. Those who care have given up.

I'm competing in the job market with persons thirty or more years my junior. I get glowing interviews, then rejections. Another Crisis sign?

I hope my past adversaries on the 4T message boards are happy, now. Gloat away. You got what you wanted. Now, America has truly become the madhouse we feared back in the early 2000's.

I shall await, with interest, from the Salvation Army shelter. If I last long enough.

Ahhh. Feel much better now.

Bad Dog --

As with many of us, there but for the grace of God go I.

I can read into this that the state is (I will keep that private out of decency), but an event that you mention gives that away.

We may see poverty as a means of separating people from information -- and of course who gets the basic decencies of life and who must suffer. A culture that has noting to offer but material delights can control people as completely as can any tyranny.

I hope that I did nothing to create the madhouse that our political and economic order is now. I wish that I could have done more, but when things go really bad life is little more than regrets.

I can give you no soothing words. Such words are more obscene than any snippet of pornography or propaganda.

I hate what America has become in so short a time.

I hope that people get mad enough at this mad house to change it over the next decade. Younger people are in a better position to be active than many of us older ones. It depends on our situation.

I have had a rough time with the bosses too lately. I am in a better position than you, luckily, and a bit older so I have a good medicare plan and some income, and I don't live in a red state.

I wish you the best, Bad Dog. As I keep telling people, I think some big progressive changes are happening soon. Some young people want to rev up society. Their perspective gives me some hope.

Problem is... some of us will pass (away) before the nastiness passes.

I don't have any real work-life suggestions, but absolutely go to the VA and get on VA healthcare.  It's not the best in the world, but it is mostly free.
