North Vietnam (Vietnamese Kingdom) was originally populated by ethnic
Chinese, while South Vietnam (Champa Kingdom) was originally populated
by Polynesian settlers from Indonesia and Malaysia. It's this ethnic
difference that has fueled multiple generational crisis civil wars,
including the war of the 1960s-70s.
