Yes, that is correct on principal. And since the Strauss & Howe generational cycle also has a part where the gap between sexes is narrower (3rd turning) and wider (1st turning), that does sound awfully lot like testosterone and estrogen might be having changing levels also. But testosterone currently does not fit the 80 year generational cycle, not yet at least.
