An AP poll shows 3 in four Americans including a majority of Republicans support the wearing of masks.
That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.

CNN is starting to see cracks in even the best countries that initially held the virus down.

At a guess, the discipline required to  hang onto the isolation procedure is missing in more than just our culture.  People who were initially willing to follow good advice got tired of it, and relaxed the response.  At any rate, there are a number of countries mentioned in the article that initially did well and were lauded for it who are not doing well now.

I can make my own article, I think. Countries that had fewer than 500 new cases yesterday (those more-severely affected had over 1000, and the USA had over 69,000).

Governor Abbott (R-TX) finally did the right thing in shutting down the bars, places perfectly suited to spreading COVID-19. But some of the bars chose to promote a "Freedom Fest" that defies that ban. Contrast Michigan, which was quick to close bars and slow to allow them to reopen.

If I were the Governor I would be going to the state's liquor licensing agency and asking it to yank liquor licenses. I would be encouraging state and local law enforcement to intensify scrutiny of the areas around those non-compliant bars for DUI offenses. 

I can hardly imagine people more likely to spread COVID-19 than heavy drinkers in a celebratory mood.
