Yes, that would work.  It would also connect California with British Columbia.  That makes joining Canada possible.

Yes, thank you for admitting the obvious, but not well known. "They will all be on renewables"...
The grid will of course be awesome.  Oklahoma has blizzards,tornadoes, and now earthquakes. A durable grid of course is a must.
