This is worse than any deficits during the Great Recession, deficits necessary for preventing a reprise of the Great Depression.Well, there hasn't been a major tax reduction like we've seen since Reagan. You should be happy though. The blues got 800 billion more to spend on their stuff for Democratic support to keep the government working for now. I suspect we'll continue to see more of the same until it becomes OBVIOUS that the government is going broke. Then, we'll have a decision make about our future together as citizens.
The gain goes almost entirely (after some time) to the economic elites of ownership and management -- the High Bourgeoisie and the nomenklatura (managerial elite), and not to the rest of America. In a state like California or New York, much of it goes to landlords like Donald Trump, the least-beloved of capitalists short of loan-sharks and child pornographers. In case you didn't know, renters are more likely to be Democrats and liberals irrespective of income.
The problem with the American economy is not that our super-rich aren't rich enough -- that is on the level with sheikhs of oil-rich monarchies in which the ruling family owns the oil reserves, as our elites want.
The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the dedicated Communist but instead the people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists -- Hannah Arendt.
