Perhaps Attention Deficit Disorder is real, and a large part of the problem. I heard a roaming interview of students at UC Irvine. Only one planned to vote, and his girlfriend said she would but had no clue about doing it. The other 20 or so acted like it was something that happened to other people, not them.
Intelligence is not knowledge and knowledge is not wisdom, but they all play well together.
