Seattle is nice enough. Not one of the great cities of the world, but good enough for me. With the high COL, though, I would probable relocate to someplace cheaper if I were younger.
I used to fantasize about Adventure Travel. Safaris, Antarctic cruises, Machu Pichu, the Galapagos Island, Madagascar..... I would even get brochures. But the cost was a barrier.
Now I fantasize about retirement. Awhile back, I came across online comments by a guy in his late fifties, who was sick and tired of the regimentation of work. I figure that regimentation starts when you are a small child, with school. By the time you are in your late fifties, you have endured half a century of regimentation.
One person's error is another's brilliant play. We're all different. I'm just shy of 72, and 3 years retired. I planned to retire at 70, not 69 as I actually did, but an unfulfilling work life and the opportunity to retire as I wished made that decision for me. In that, I'm extremely lucky. I'm not in my perfect place, but I am in a really good one. I'll be staying until I get too old to live here -- hopefully 15+ years from now. In the meantime, there is always travel.
