He was sceptical about human nature, he believed our species is Nature's first experiment and should be improved by means of genetic engineering. I'm not sure if he was the first person to imagine genetic engineering, but he was certainly one of the "founding fathers" of this concept. If you aren't familiar with his thought, I advise you to read Last and First Men and perhaps Last Men in London and Personality and Liberty. He also thought much about generations, although he didn't see they form a cycle.
