HARRISBURG — A Pennsylvania state lawmaker is facing child pornography possession charges after authorities say a social media website told them the user had uploaded an image using its service.

Sen. Michael Folmer, R-Lebanon, was charged after an investigation prompted by Tumblr, an electronic service provider, reported one of its users had uploaded a child porn image, the attorney general’s office said.

The investigation led to Folmer’s home. The attorney general’s office’s Child Predator Section, Lebanon city police and U.S. Department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant at Folmer’s home, and reportedly found child porn images on his phone.

“This defendant serves as a state Senator and was entrusted to honor and represent his community in the Pennsylvania Capitol,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in a news release. “Tonight, our Office arrested Mr. Folmer for possession of child pornography and charged him with Sexual Abuse of Children, Possession of Child Pornography, and Criminal Use of a Communication Facility. I will continue to say it — no one is above the law, no matter what position of power they hold. I will continue to work to protect children and hold those who abuse them accountable.”

Folmer is charged with sexually abusing children, child porn possession and criminally using a communication facility.

A message left at Folmer’s listed home telephone number wasn’t immediately returned, and neither were messages for his lawyer.

The 63-year-old Republican was elected to a fourth term in November. Long considered one of the chamber’s most conservative members, Folmer was crucial to helping swing Republican votes behind a bill to legalize medical marijuana in 2016.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the ouster of the McDonald’s CEO over a consensual relationship with an employee. Sorry, but as long as she didn’t directly report to him I feel that companies trying to dictate people’s love life and whom they can’t fall in love with is going way too far. People marrying their subordinates is not all that unusual, my own parents having been one example. Ann my dad was a stickler for not mixing business with pleasure. Wonder if they would have been afraid to even talk to each other in today’s corporate climate. And this whole anti-relationship culture was force fed to the corporate world following the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill saga and went into overdrive with the advent of #MeToo.

I guess that most of the tales that I bring are of lurid misconduct -- sex with minors, child porn, rape-in-all-but-name... The times are changing, and they now show little tolerance for exploitative sexuality between bosses and subordinates.

It could be that such behavior used to be covered up, with a company's lawyer typically seeking the minimal payout to the victim in exchange for a non-disclosure conttract. So she is driving a ten-year-old car, so give her enough for a new car. That ought to get us some peace... it goes to court only if she is an extreme gold-digger, and if she is we can maker her look like a whore to a civil jury.
The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the dedicated Communist  but instead the people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists -- Hannah Arendt.
