It is par for the course. Republicans got to posture on defense, but when it came time to commit to the Domino Theory, it was the Democrats that started the hot wars of Korea and Vietnam. The hedonism of the Unraveling and concentration on economics is basically selfish. Actually working to say build infrastructure in the high is not. Fighting for civil rights, women’s rights, clean streams…. Basically the Awakening is not the sort of selfish materialism that the conservatives are about.
I keep going back to that JFK line. “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.” It is almost a dividing line. It was what made America great.
That this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.
