The tyranny isn't that a state trooper or a county or city cop can arrest me if I do DWI. The tyranny is the person doing DWI.

WTF?
No victim. No crime. Government is an association of men who do violence to the rest of us.

Why not just put every American in prison when they're born?

Indeed, the one thing that prison does badly is to prepare offenders to be non-offenders. Prison is intended to scare people from doing certain things, whether stealing cars, using or dealing in drugs, or (in some countries) expressing ideals inimical to the interests of the rulers or the Master Class. (For a real scare, the government might have the gallows or a firing squad available -- and at times even an Iron Maiden, breaking wheel, predatory animals, or burning alive). Ex-offenders rarely learn how to fit the usual acquisitiveness and hedonism one expects in people once they are no longer under the control of a prison. Prison compels a concern for day-to-day existence at a low level of need (avoid getting into big trouble with the bureaucracy or worse, other offenders), a level at which few employers operate.

Some Americans may have felt uneasy 35 years ago when DUI laws, DWI checkpoints, seatbelt laws, and car liability insurance laws were started, but most people felt that the experts must be right.
Pro-police state shows like "COPS" and "America's Most Wanted" were then aired, neighborhood watch groups were formed, "get tough on crime" candidates were elected, and laws allowing mandatory minimums, IMBRA, 3 strikes laws, curfews, police militarization, teen boot camps, school metal detectors, private prisons, and chain gangs were enacted. Nanny state smoking laws then started appearing. When 9/11 happened, the Patriot Act was passed, NSA wiretapping, no knock raids, take down notices, no fly lists, terror watch lists, Constitution free zones, stop and frisk, kill switches, National Security Letters, DNA databases, kill lists, FBAR, FATCA, Operation Chokepoint, TSA groping, civil forfeiture, CIA torture, NDAA indefinite detention, secret FISA courts, FEMA camps, laws requiring passports for domestic travel, IRS laws denying passports for tax debts, gun and ammo stockpiles, laws outlawing protesting, Jade Helm, sneak and peek warrants, policing for profit, no refusal blood checkpoints, license plate readers, redlight cameras, speed cameras, FBI facial and voice recognition, tattoo databases, gun bans, the end to the right to silence, free speech bans, searches without warrants, CISPA, SOPA, private prison quotas, supermax prisons, sex offender registration laws, and sex offender restriction laws were allowed. Now that the USA is a total police state, Americans are finding out that changing anything is impossible and that freedom is lost forever.
Dangerous technologies mandate regulation, at the least when preventable dangers exist.
What's your problem with DUI laws? Are you one of those people who thinks that he can drive better after 'one for the road'? (OK, one drink might improve the driving of someone anxious by removing the excessive defensiveness.... but that is one drink). Do you still believe in the myth that you are safer being 'thrown clear (into something hard or jagged, like pavement or trees, or into icy water) than being protected by an automobile body from such things for a few seconds before things stabilize? If you are concerned about fire, then you are more likely to burn to death or die of smoke inhalation if you are paralyzed or knocked unconscious because you are thrown around in a car. Liability insurance is typically mandated by auto lenders as a condition of a loan. Blame the banks and entities such as GMAC for that. Insurance premiums are good incentives to not take undue risks like speeding, running red lights, and dangerous overtaking. No-knock raids are necessary against armed offenders... drug traffickers almost always have guns. Sure, marijuana probably isn't as bad as its detractors have claimed... but opiates, cocaine, and meth really are dangerous. DNA databases are just the thing to link offenders to murders and rapes -- and clear the innocent. DNA is about as reliable as fingerprints. Sex offender databases? Sex offenders are a large chunk of murderers... and by definition rapists are sex offenders. I concede that COPS is dreadful television, as is most reality television. If you don't like it, then don't watch it! America's Most Wanted? Once a fugitive named on the show is caught there are no replays of the segment.

Americans are so fearful, brainwashed, dependent, or ignorant that they think like children and justify every law and overlook every abuse carried out by the government. They believe government workers are gods who can do no wrong.
Americans are so fat and drugged up that they eagerly allow themselves to be molested to ride a bus, offer their fingerprints to get a driver license, and open their bags to be searched so they can ride a subway. If Americans are asked about the US debt, they respond that it doesn't matter because it is not real money and doesn't need to be paid back. Americans think endless wars are fine because US bombs are just gathering dust. Americans support government secrecy because the USA has enemies. Americans think taxes create more jobs than the free market can. Americans think government workers deserve high wages because they work hard. Americans think the economy should be destroyed to save the environment. Americans say that regulations encourage people to start companies. Americans think everyone accused of crimes are guilty. Americans say people should be in prison to keep the unemployment rate down. Americans would rather increase punishments for victimless nanny state laws instead of repealing them. Americans think the desires of neighbors are more important than the rights of property owners. Americans believe the government owns everything because the government is the people. When asked about gun control, Americans say it's needed for safety. If asked about free speech, Americans respond that no one should be offended. Americans think Muslims don't have religious rights because Islam is not a religion. Americans say asset forfeiture is fine because the police have been doing it for years. Americans defend NSA wiretapping because it's just metadata. Americans believe TSA groping is good since they have nothing to hide. Americans say torture is okay because other countries do it. Americans even say the Bill of Rights should be abolished because George Washington owned slaves! Anyone who still supports the government is just a tool for the elites. The collapse of the USA is disgusting and shameful. The US deserves everything coming to it. |
