Who are you voting for in 2016?
#21
Those of you voting third party (IE voting for Shillery by proxy) might want to re-consider since Shillery's "supporters" are spending millions to try and censor the internet. If there is a reason to come over to Daddy this is it.

I'd rather kill myself than vote for Trump. And you don't think RW authoritarians like Trump would not love to censor the Internet, too? Rolleyes

Actually I don't think he would bother. He has bigger fish to fry than worrying about being called "Shillery", you know cause he'll be president and all. Also I didn't expect you to reconsider, I'm just surprised you're not being direct in supporting a woman that when being compared to Lucifer draws protests from Satanic groups for "giving the prince of darkness a bad name".

Though I must say I will love watching you get all triggered come the election. I myself have become convinced that it is either Trump or the end of Western Civilization. Since I kinda like Western Civilization (cause we got all the cool shit and all) that made my mind up.

On the contrary, as a Spenglerian I, sort of, think the exact opposite. Trump is a premonition of Caesarism, marking the end of a civilization's natural development and the beginning of the fossilization of it's cultural, philosophical, and ideological forms. He is the Western counterpart of Lucius Cornelius Sulla.

I am of the opinion that Western Civilization ended when the First World War started up and that it took about a century for anyone to notice.  I use that point because that war appears to me to be the catalyst that paved the way for the era of the total state which may be ending now due to simple bankruptcy.

That said I have no problem with giving Trump a chance since the usual suspects are known crooks, completely incompetent or both.

I have read from two sources that WWI was the start of the decline of Western Civilization because many decided  after the war that the German philosophers were correct in asserting that " God is dead".

Both sound like the basis of a thread based on theory. I know I've been planning on writing up my Mega-saeculum and micro-turning theory.

You know you could always vote for Daddy.  Begrudgingly to be sure but he's still an option, since any third party vote is essentially a vote for Shillery.  I can't speak for others but I won't even bring up your misguided #nevertrump mess...well much.  I mean after all even the party elites are bowing down before our new god emperor...er...I mean President.

When asked why they like Trump, some reply “He tells it like it is. He’s not politically correct.”

One whimsical definition of “Political Correctness,” hereafter referred to as PC, is that if one is PC, one needs to be able to “pick up a turd by the clean end.” On a more serious note, PC is said to consist of using euphemisms instead of the more descriptive terms available when talking about something sensitive. We are told that we are overly sensitive when objecting to so-called coarse discourse around issues of discrimination, racism, feminism, misogyny, homophobia, and other such concerns.

What are some examples of PC that have hit the headlines?

* The Washington Redskins. It is said by some Native Americans, that the term “Redskins” is a pejorative name for a team in the national attention.

* A corollary to the above – some among us claim, loudly and vociferously, “Hey, I was born here, I guess that makes ME “Native American” too!”

* The PC term for people of color whose ancestry is based in Africa. Some “White” folks complain that “those people” can’t seem to make up their mind what to be called – Negro, Black, Colored, and now African-American.

* A corollary of the above is the complaint that black rapper musicians make frequent use of the “n-word” and that it’s PC for “White” people to not be able to freely employ the “n-word.”

* When sidewalks, curbs, doorways, restrooms, etc., are made more accessible for disabled people, it is said that builder, employers, et.al. are being “forced” to expend “extra” money to accommodate a small minority of the population to satisfy the PC agenda.

* When certain women’s groups choose to change religious literature and/or prayers so that God is referred to in a gender-neutral way, that is said to be blatantly PC.

* When, instead of allowing children to “settle things amongst themselves,” a stand is taken by educators, certain parents, and others against bullying, that is said to adhere to a PC agenda and that kids “need to learn how to stand up for themselves like I did when I was a kid.”

The above are just a handful of examples of issues said to be part of the egregious PC culture at large in the country today. What I find most intriguing is that the commonality of virtually every single instance of PC-ness loose in our society seems to be folks’ concern that SOMEONE ELSE is being too sensitive about what they are called, or how they are treated.

Can anyone put a different spin on PC? Or is it really as selfish and self-centered a complaint as it seems to me?

I strongly suggest that you look deeper into the whole PC and SJW movement and how it literally wants to censor all speech, on the mistaken belief that by controlling language you can stop wrongthink.

Here this channel will help: Sargon of Akkad

If it helps he's a classical liberal.

Sargon of Akkad: Proud to be endorsed by the fascistic thugs of the English Defence League.

Oh, and there is this:

Quote:Also, for some reason — my memory is a bit foggy here — he decided to weigh in on trans issues, quoting an anti-trans hate group that has tried to disguise itself as a professional organization of pediatricians as if it were in fact a professional organization of pediatricians.

Except it totally is a professional organization of pediatricians. That they take positions they do not like does not make them a "hate group" Odin. But then again it isn't like I expect you to be intellectually honest.

Ok. I went to your link.  WTF?  It's like listening to Tolkien read to us in Esperanto.

"... censor all speech ... stop wrongthink?"  WTF does that mean?

Civility, which is very much in short supply these days, seems to me to be the issue. If a woman does not want me to refer to her as "a chick," doesn't it seem like the civil thing for me to simply comply?  What have I lost?

Or are you saying that there is a fundamental truth here, being avoided?  That women truly ARE inferior, and SHOULD be referred to as "chicks?"  And that disagreeing with that makes me a friend of "wrongthink?"

I maintain that accusations of "PC" are about troglodytes wanting to tell OTHER PEOPLE that THEY are too sensitive.

I've always disliked both Bill and Hillary Clinton, but you can bet your butt that I'll be voting for the latter in November.  Staying home or voting third party only helps out Trump, even if he's a big underdog.

Actually it is pretty clear. The guy is speaking English. As to "wrongthink" it is a play on the concept of Newspeak which is what PC labels eventually become. Which only serves the purpose of censoring speech by making debate particularly intellectual debate of issues of race, sexuality, and so on impossible. To define wrongthink itself it means that one takes up the "wrong, according to the SJWs, position on any subject".

There are others who are around who can explain it without the English Accent (not that it is very strong with Sargon).

As for women being inferior, these so-called troglodytes are not the ones insisting that women are so sensitive that they cannot handle hand clapping or even being complemented on being attractive.

This is exactly it. They think "freedom of speech" means that they have a right to force others to listen to their crap. Scratch a "cultural libertarian" whining about "free speech" and find an authoritarian jerk who wants to control others.

I've yet to see a single cultural libertarian who wants to control others, such is antithetical to the precepts of libertairianism, which itself can be more accurately called classical liberalism as it is little more than Enlightenment Liberalism. But answer me this, who is in charge of the universities with all their various speech codes and so forth? Is it the conservatives? The cultural libertarians? No. It is the Regressive Leftist SJWs and their hangers on.

It is interesting to note that cultural libertarianism already makes room for those on the economic left. I'm there, and not so strangely is Bill Mahar.

Sometimes I think that the straw man argument has become the primary mode of political discourse.

In 74.5 years of life, I've NEVER been up-braided for telling a woman that she appears to be attractive.

In fact, during part of my education in a course on Organization Management, we were shown convincing evidence that money comes in a poor second to recognition as a motivator of human behavior.

Just for the sake of argument, if society evolved somehow so that a large fraction of the folks began to think that complimenting someone is too forward or too intrusive or something, then the civil thing to do would be to dial it back.  However, I don't think we are anywhere near such.  No doubt, someplace on the InterWebs, there's a woman shrieking about being complimented.  Doesn't mean it's really an issue though.  I'll wait for more evidence.
