Liberals are so fjcking stupid. Of course he doesn't want peace. America, as a whole, wants war with Iran.
Iran has a totalitarian regime with a vision of world revolution emanating from Iran, a corrupt hierarchy of clerics responsible only to God (God is always silent, but the clerics interpret such as consent... and nobody has the freedom to say otherwise), a heritage of being armed to the teeth (one thing that it inherited from the Pahlavi dynasty), and sadistic repression of dissent. Anyone who fails to agree with the Ayatollahs can strangle while dangling. It is a merciless, inequitable order whose elites have the arrogance to believe that theirs is the best of all possible worlds and anyone who believes otherwise is damned to Hell.
One of the great tragedies of history was the downfall of the Sassanid empire and with it the glorious cultural heritage of pre-Islamic Persia. Zoroastrianism was a major world religion with influence even upon Judaism.
I recall a quip from Henry Kissinger about the Iran-Iraq war between Saddam Hussein and the Islamic Republic;
"I wish they could both lose".
The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the dedicated Communist but instead the people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists -- Hannah Arendt.
