The "Bad Apples" of each generation
#60
A very bad one: David Curtis Stephenson, ambitious leader of the powerful Indiana KKK (1891-1966), fascist thug and murderer-rapist

Figures of the Second KKK include some nasty people who preceded Italian and German fascists in style. Their hatreds failed to culminate in large-scale genocide only because the Klan collapsed in the 1920's even before the Great Depression. Mercifully much Klan activity was bleeding the schmuck membership  so people could no longer afford to buy the robes and pay the "Klecktokon" (membership fees) during the Great Depression.

I am convinced that the Nazis learned much from the Second Klan.

Some others

Andrew Kehoe, 1872-1927, mass murderer (school bomber -- in 1927)

Chevie Kehoe, 1983-  white supremacist involved in three murders
with Daniel Lewis Lee, 1973-2020, executed for those

Joseph Paul Franklin, racist serial killer (1950-2013), shooter, bomber, and bank robber

It would be easy to load the list with Nazis, but I suggest a few:

Claus Schilling, 1871-1946, performer of worthless, but lethal medical experiments upon helpless concentration-camp inmates
Wilhelm Keitel, 1882-1946, Chief of the OKW, who turned the German Army into the Nazi Army
Julius Streicher, 1885-1946, publisher of the vile Der Stuermer that disseminated the Jew-baiting venom that desensitized Germans to what their regime was doing to the Jews
Roland Freisler, 1893-1945, "hanging judge" of the dreaded Volksgerichthof infamous for show trials; offered "expert" legal solutions to facilitate the Holocaust
Joachim von Ribbentrop, 1893-1946, Foreign Minister of Nazi Germany who arranged the diplomacy behind military aggression
Oskar Dirlewanger, 1896-1945, pervert and head of a Nazi brigade of convicted killers that proved unusually sadistic by Nazi standards
Rudolf Höss, 1901-1947, Commandant of Auschwitz Concentration Camp (Do not confuse him with Rudolf Hess).
Amon Göth, 1908-1946, particularly notable as the arch-villain boss of a concentration camp in Schindler's List (although there were plenty of other mass killers in such roles)
Josef Mengele, 1911-1979, perpetrator of sadistic pseudo-medical experiments
Irma Grese, 1923-1945, concentration camp guard, killed some inmates by dog attack (Christians to the lions in Rome, Jews to dogs in Nazi Germany... what progress!)

Pierre Laval, 1883-1945, French sell-out to the Nazis
Kenji Doihara, 1883-1948, Japanese intelligence officer active in Manchuria, but in practice a mobster.
Vidkun Quisling, 1887-1946, the Norwegian Nazi who as puppet leader of occupied Norway had his name become synonymous with "Traitor"
Ante Pavelić, 1889-1959, Croatian fascist, boss of a regime that rivaled Nazi Germany for cruelty
William "Lord Haw-Haw" Joyce, 1906-1946, made treasonous broadcasts from Nazi Germany to the UK.

Commies include some real bad ones, too:

Andrei Vishinsky, 1883-1954, boss of Stalin's purge trials
Mátyás Rákosi, 1892-1971, "Stain's favorite Hungarian pupil" -- created a literal reign of terror in Hungary as Head of the Hungarian Communist Party
Klement Gottwald, 1896-1953, dismantled the Czechoslovak democracy and established a brutal, monolithic, repressive regime.
Hilde Benjamin 1901-1989, East German judge of many lethal persecutions of political dissidents
Jiang Qing. 1914-1991, wife of Mao Zedong and pusher of the Cultural Revolution.

...I am guessing that Ghislaine Maxwell (Jeffrey Epstein's procurer and "coach" of underage girls) will fit here.

Do you remember Anita Bryant (1929-) for her anti-gay tirades?
...and Scott Lively (1957-), who wrote the infamous Pink Swastika that associates homosexuality with every imaginable vice?

James Levine, 1943-2021, symphony and opera conductor who messed with boys.
The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the dedicated Communist  but instead the people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists -- Hannah Arendt.
