Missionary: Tom Mix, Lionel Barrymore, Will Rogers, Enrico Caruso, Fritz Kreisler, Arturo Toscanini, Isadora Duncan. Add a large number of composers of classical music -- Gustav Mahler, Carl Nielsen, Claude Debussy, Jean Sibelius, Gustav Holst, Charles Ives, Sergei Rachmaninov, Isaac Albeniz, Maurice Ravel, Alexander Scriabin, Ottorino Respighi, Igor Stravinsky, Georges Enescu, Arnold Schoenberg (OK, I'm not sure that his music is particularly entertaining), and Bela Bartok. Scott Joplin might or might not qualify as "Classical".
Lost: I would add George Gershwin, Aaron Copland, Sergei Prokofiev, and Paul Robeson.
Silent: did you miss Sammy Davis, Junior? Note the near plethora of comedians: Leslie Nielsen, Joan Rivers, Andy Griffith, Dick Van Dyke, Mel Brooks, Alan King, Tim Conway, Carol Burnett, Alan Alda, Flip Wilson, Woody Allen, Bill Cosby (his problems were anything but funny), Christopher Lloyd, and Richard Pryor. Bob Uecker for his comic approach to baseball... and there was Yogi Berra.
(Stuffy and polarized as we are we could certainly use that sort of comedy again!) Bob Dylan isn't comedy, but he is certainly brainy
Most of the Monty Python crew (Michael Palin, George Cleese) belong in the Silent list if you want them.

The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the dedicated Communist but instead the people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists -- Hannah Arendt.
