The Economic Order Of Post-Modernity?

There's not really much suitable land in our solar system, even considering how much trouble it would be to terraform it. Other possible places to go depend on breaking the light barrier. In which case, it's a real possibility that we have been visited by ETs who can only get here by doing this.

That implies that your solution probably involves being helped (or hurt) by them, and adapting to their galactic federation and their ways of being.

Many of our ancestors left Europe to leave feudalism, broadly defined as a rigid class system under monarchy. But remember, Europe went through a revolution parallel in time to ours, and they now have the most advanced social and political systems on the planet.

So maybe we don't have to leave Earth to move beyond our current economic system, but can have some kind of new revolution; not necessarily Marxist in goal or method. A revolution that embraces and preserves the Earth and learns from its ways.

There are many ways to democracy:
-a revolutionary war (America, France)
-democracy brought by foreign military intervention (Japan, Germany, Italy)
-gradual reform (England, Scandinavia)
-worker's strike demanding the autocrats to step down (Poland)

There is no reason to doubt the ways out of capitalism are as diverse. The foreign intervention would be aliens in this case, but if They decided to leave us alone for some 5000 years, why would They intervene now? I operate under the assumption most civilizations in the Galaxy are millions old years old.

I'd like to see moving beyond capitalism the British way, without any wars or violent upheavals.
