People between the ages of 18-29 saw the sharpest decline in backing for new weapons laws, with fewer than half now saying new legislation is needed to reduce the risk of future mass shootings or to block "red flag" buyers.
In April 2018, the last time the ABC/Washington Post survey was conducted on this issue, 65 percent of these young Americans said they support gun control laws. That percentage is now 45.

Too bad if true. We so badly need it, as the Parkland kids said. I don't know why people in America turn such a blind and immoral eye toward their innocent fellows being gunned down by the dozens and dozens, for no reason other than to keep the gun industry going. It is one of the many examples of madness that make a very black mark on our supposed exceptional nation.
It may be because of rising crime during the pandemic. As gun nut Republicans get their way, gun violence and gun crime increases, and people want more protection. Some police are less likely to respond, fearing being tried for murder, while others double down on their violent and often racist behavior, fearing that their victims whom they want to arrest are armed even when they raise their hands. So ethnic communities want more guns to protect themselves from the police too. More gun violence promotes more gun violence. There may be no end to this. America is one sick, sick country.
