Civil War veterans speak
#1
The first video was filmed in 1929 and has a Gilded (1835 cohort) and Progressive (1845 cohort) veteran talking about their war experiences. The second video was filmed in 1930 at a veterans' reunion. Really fascinating to see footage of men who lived through historical events 160 years ago recounting their experiences.

It's amazing that we have a record that gives a voice to silent photographs of what were young men in the 1860's, but old (if the same men) in circa 1930. Figure that 65 years after the American Civil War that they were all beyond expected life at birth. Figure that people of like age who had served in World War II would now be in their 90's or would now be centenarians.

Remember well what they did and how they saw things 65 years later.

Another cool video of an interview with a witness to Lincoln's assassination.
