How a Democracy Dies
#21
No doubt there will be a North America in 100 years, but there probably won't be a United States. Where can
the hard-core freedom lovers go now that the world is a police state?

The enemies of the US are not foreign countries now. The enemies are the elites that want to wipe
out the white people and send the rest of the 99% to the gulags to be starved and killed. The 1%
then will be divide the wealth and land of the USA among themselves.

How else can you explain the destruction of the USA? Economics isn't rocket science. If you want a strong economy, don't punish hard work with taxes and regulations while rewarding laziness with welfare and allowing millions of 3rd world immigrants to flood the country.

Well, I don't see the world as a police state, nor the supposed hard core freedom lovers as a significant faction.  Then again, I don't flirt with anarchy, violence or getting rid of government.  Define what you mean by 'police state' and 'hard-core freedom lovers'?  I obviously do not share your belief in minorities using violence to enforce one's world view.  Good luck.  Changing world views isn't easy.  It is really really futile.

The 1% may be selfish and short sighted.  That I am ready to believe.  The 1% do not wish to be mass murderers, or at least I have never met someone who is.  That is one reason I shun much of your perspective.  You do not see motivation correctly, thus you try to solve problems which don't exist.

The 'enemies of the US' are often internal, and often do not see themselves as enemies.  You don't get something for nothing, though the enemies will often delude themselves into economic systems that pretend you can.  While we meddle in foreign affairs, while we spend so much on our military, while the delusion of superpower has us swimming in debt, we cannot afford to do well by our own people.  We face a hard choice.

I am with Churchill in believing "You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else."

I do not foresee destruction.  We see two cultures see sawing power between them, and we'll be in trouble until they stop trying to force change on each other and force change abroad.  I see us facing crisis and finding solutions more pleasant that destruction, more rational, and sooner.

Americans want to think that they live in a peaceful, free country with a balanced budget, but that belief is not true.

Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored.

You know that you live in a police state when everything is illegal and you have no rights.

You have no free speech rights, religious rights, gun rights, there is civil forfeiture, the government wiretaps your phone, records your web history, reads your email, takes away your right to silence, can torture you, and can extrajudicuallly assassinate you.

Your taxes fund illegal immigrants, debt, endless wars, curfews, checkpoints, no fly lists, private prisons, mandatory minimums, 3 strikes laws, DNA databases, CISPA, SOPA, NDAA, IMBRA, FBAR, FATCA laws, TSA groping, secret FISA courts, and Jade Helm.

The elites are obviously going all the way to destroy the world. Just look at history and Mao, Hitler, and Stalin.

When Americans remain quiet about rising debt, Obamacare, food stamps, regulations, endless US wars, increasing taxes, illegal immigrants, nanny state laws, security cameras, license plate readers, checkpoints, redlight cameras, speed cameras, FBI facial and voice recognition, curfews, gun bans, NSA wiretapping, the end to the right to silence, free speech bans, searches without warrants, private prisons, mandatory minimums, 3 strikes laws, DNA databases, CISPA, SOPA, NDAA, IMBRA, private prison quotas, no knock raids, take down notices, no fly lists, terror watch lists, Constitution free zones, stop and frisk, 3 strikes laws, kill switches, National Security Letters, kill lists, FBAR, FATCA, Operation Chokepoint, TSA groping, civil forfeiture, CIA torture, NDAA indefinite detention, secret FISA courts, FEMA camps, laws requiring passports for domestic travel, IRS laws denying passports for tax debts, gun and ammo stockpiles, laws outlawing protesting, police militarization, chain gangs, boot camps, and Jade Helm what kind of message does that send to the elites?

Do you think the 1% is just going to turn around and restore freedom? Do you think our overlords are just going to stop increasing tyranny on their own?

Unless Americans start speaking out, resisting, protesting, getting out into the streets with pitchforks and torches, tar and feathering the elites, cops, soldiers, politicians, government workers, and media puppets, breaking windows, setting fires, and killing people, Americans will end up in the concentration camps.

There's no hope. The US will be lucky to last another 30 years.

The best we can do now is to warn people to study history and prepare.

The USA is a bankrupt warmongering police state.

The line has been crossed. The Bill of Rights will never be restored. Even if the government said that they have ended NSA wiretapping, CIA torture, NDAA indefinite detention, and secret FISA courts, who would believe them?

The 1% appears intent on causing an economic collapse, a civil war, and WWIII.

Those fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.

Now, I am not fond of the three you mentioned above. They may have wanted to conquer the world, but they did not wish to destroy it. There is a difference. With a lack of understanding of motive comes bad politics. Someone who lies about or cannot understand their rivals should not promote violence.

Most people would prefer to ignore a hard fact rather than face it.

Americans are whistling down to the concentration camps.

When plunder becomes a way of life, men create for themselves a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that glorifies it.

Nonsense. Hollywood, the media, and advertisers follow the masses to avoid offending them. They largely push conventional behavior.

As for student loans -- good colleges do not advertise. Bad ones do. The University of Texas does not advertise in Dallas, but unaccredited colleges do so. For example, I remember one questionable college proclaimimg "XXX University teaches tradiional values". Would you expect such a school to teach the knack for questioning tradition? The University of Texas certainly does. If the college isn't advertising itself it isn't advertising student loans, either.

I would expect most merchandisers to encourage the splurge... but not life-insurance companies which encourage people to pay into life-insurance plans instead of buying the latest electronic goodies or buying other overpriced luxuries.

Obesity? The media do not glamorize obesity. Of course there is a near inverse between the nutritional quality of food and the intensity of advertising, with such stuff as beer, chips, sodas, and fast food being heavily advertised and vegetables ignored.

Taking out a mortgage loan? One typically gets more living space for the money. Renting is rarely a bargain except during a buying frenzy as in 1928 or 2005.

Go on welfare? That's not good for consumerism.

War and tyranny? Blame the politicians.

Which came first? The chicken or the egg?

Did Americans become immoral before "Midnight Cowboy" or after?

The elites want everyone poor except themselves.

The 1% want Americans in prison and dead. Who gives the campaign donations to the politicians? Who makes money from wars and private prison quotas?

We made a massive transition from hyper morality (of sorts) to anything goes. If the GIs had been less dogmatic, the problem may have been avoided ... but they weren't.

Of course they do, in theory. If it actually happens, they will be the new aristocrats being lead to the guillotine by the howling mob.

I'm looking forward to that day.  It will be dreadful.  The elites once again have to learn that social programs are a form of life insurance.

Taking a look at Trump and the rest of the cabinet it is a lesson none of them can grasp much less envision.  The meritocracy needs to be reinstated.  The fact that Trump has a degree from Wharton tells me that a degree from Wharton is as worthless as a degree from Trump University.

A nation of sheep will beget a government of wolves.

Socialism is not the answer to the US collapse.

Government is not the solution, but rather the cause of our problems.

More debt, wars, tyranny, regulations, homosexuality, illegal immigrants, obesity, and welfare won't save the USA.

What would save the US is less debt and more morality, personal responsibility, freedom, and peace.

All of which can be forced with enough expensive guns and violence.  The Nebraskan way?  No wonder Stalin failed in the long run.

Hey Bob.  Welcome back.  I hope you're fully on the mend.  One small point: this guy (child?) doesn't get irony, sarcasm or even full-blown spoof.  Please add emojis to aid in his understanding of complex issues.   Tongue   It's for the children.  Rolleyes

I'm going to stick with my theory that it's one of those disruptors from somewhere nasty like Omck or Tyumen, not somewhere nice albeit chilly like St Petersberg. It would also explain it's unfamiliarity with conversational English. As to why it has decided to infest this board, beats me.   OTOH you may be right, and it's just a maladjusted teen brat who has no friends, and thinks that howling on this board makes its voice less meaningless than rats feet over broken glass.

Boomers can be as self-righteous as any generation. So said my shrink -- about me. That goes with Asperger's syndrome.

Of course. Hunger is not a civic duty. Revolution against brutal oppressors becomes rational at times, as in the French Revolution -- when people got too rational for their own good.

Capitalists saved themselves from repetitions of the Bolshevik Revolution by turning the proletariat into avid consumers instead of the sullen masses that Karl Marx expected them to be. Of course we may have found our way into a situation in which we can no longer need rely upon crude consumerism as motivation for mind-numbing, soul-crushing toil.

Americans think that they will revolt when the elites send them to
the concentration camps,
but then it will be too late.

The time to resist is now.

You start protesting when the government starts doing bad things to people.

We are past the opening stages of a dictatorship. Start with official debasement of the language which makes every word a lie and the very human need of communication difficult. Such is Orwell's warning to us all.
