Nobody can say that are exempt from the commission of hate crimes.
There's no excuse for hate crimes by anyone against anyone. Not even "four hundred years of oppression".

My guess is that someday historians will look back at our present, and say that a global crisis began with Covid. Then entered a time of war.....

Covid-19 has killed on the scale of modern warfare, and President Trump was not up to the task. Lincoln and FDR may have spoiled historians on how to conduct a Crisis, in essence making the top, non-technical decisions on which of mutually-exclusive choices must be decided upon, and making such choices stick.
Ukraine's problem is also a world problem. Aggression must not stand. I cannot understand what Vladimir Putin was thinking. He is the problem. He failed to back down at signs of both military failure and international consternation.

Might there be any plan to switch the date format to the more logical year-month-day format? Be it ISO 8601 YYYY-MM-DD or even YYYY-Mon-DD format (2022-04-25 in folder/file names, 2022 Apr 25 in text that need no sorting). A 4-digit year is necessary to prevent ambiguity when the digits are low (09/12/15 could be any of 3 different dates and 01-Sep-12 could be any of 2 different dates), and big-endian is way better if things are going to be sorted on computers. the forum itself allows the user to choose the yyyy-mm-dd format along with a 24h time format.

Amen! 90% of my files lead with the YYYY-MM-DD prefix for exactly that reason, and I try to use it elsewhere as well (check writing being an exception -- contact your bank!). Unfortunately, we're creatures of habit, and habits, even really bad ones, die hard.

In many countries the usual system is DD MM YYYY. Thus the date of birth of Abraham Lincoln is 12 April 1809 in Germany, but April 12, 1809 in the USA.
Possible explanation: seasonality is severe in much of the United States. In Boston the typical winter high is much lower than the typical summer low temperature.

That would be an interesting and first time I heard that as an explanation for why the US uses such a strange date format. I grew up in and still live in the US but it does feel weird not having it be either YMD or DMY. Usually metric is the thing people are more aware the US still is stubborn to take up.

If you click on the "User CP" link near the top of the page, you'll
go to the user control panel.
Then click on "Edit Options" halfway down the left-hand side.
One section of the edit options is labeled "Date and Time Options."
You can use the dropdowns to select whatever date and time
formats you want.

I think nguyenivy's concerns are much broader than this forum.

Correct. I changed that setting here a while ago whenever I established the account. Date/time format, units, & dialect are among the 1st options I change on new devices & software. The wider USA still uses 12h time, mm/dd/yy[yy] dates, and Imperial units even online where the content could be read by anyone the world over.

** 07-Oct-2023 World View: Major Mideast War
A major war between Israel and Hamas
began on Saturday morning. There have
been a number of these wars in recent
decades, but they've mostly been air
wars, with the Palestinians launching
rockets on Israeli cities (many of which
were shot down by Israel's Iron Dome air
defense system), with Israel's Defense
Force (IDF) responding with missiles.
These wars petered out in days or weeks.
The new war is the biggest war on Israel
in 50 years, since the 1973 Yom Kippur
war. Israeli intelligence is being
blamed for not seeing this coming.
Hamas has launched thousands of rockets
into Israel. Furthermore, thousands of
Hamas ground forces were sent into
Israel via gliders and underground
tunnels, and by sea.
Palestinian militia squads have been
entering Israeli population centers,
killing people in their homes and beds.
Reports from Sderot and Ashkelon say
that the streets are strewn with bodies
and blown up cars. The IDF has called
up tens of thousands of reservists to
fight Hamas on the ground.
Hamas clains that some Israeli soldiers
have been taken hostage. This will
force the IDF to launch a ground
offensive to recover the hostages and
prisoners of war.
Israel claims 50 people dead in Israel,
and 800 injured. Hamas claims 700 dead
and 1500 injured.
Hamas makes heavy use of human shields.
This means that weapons stores and
military leaders are located in
apartment buidings with hundreds of
civilians.
There are many opportunities for
escalation. Many Palestinians may flood
across the border from Gaza into Egypt.
Syria and Hezbollah in Lebanon, both of
which receive weapons from Iran, may
decide to get involved.
According to the White House, Biden is
"concerned."
(Hamas's objective is to provoke a large
organic uprising in the West Bank and
Israel, in order to destroy Israel from
within. This is also an objective of
the Biden administration, as it does all
it can, including enabling tens of
millions of refugees from over 100
countries to pour in through the
southern border, in order to incite a
new American Civil War.)

Perhaps we will see the use of the Iron Beam antimissile defense, which uses lasers.

The Hamas attack on Israel looks like a convulsion of a decrepit regime. What has Hamas been doing?
For what is basically a city state with a shoreline it has something clearly missing: a suitable port. It is possible to dredge out a port for a large coastal city along a nearly-flat shore.
A port facility would have been an excellent place for bringing in aid and taking out vulnerable people. The first thing I thought, after hearing of the Israeli attack was "where are the navies bringing in aid and taking out people?" There were none! The Mediterranean Sea has some impressive navies.
