Then what are you doing on a forum which is built on the very idea that generations are a real thing and very different from each other?

Unless you mean the worse definitions of generations, like those who say "Boomers are the cohorts from 1946-64, because of high birth rates". Unfortunately there are many stupid theories around here too.
