If Obamacare has not been repealed, the trade deficit is rising, the debt is increasing, the US is still at war, the Bill of Rights has not been restored, there is no wall, and Assange is in jail, but Clinton isn't, is Trump any different from Obama?
WTF? 3D chess, right?
1. The degradation of Americans' personal freedom began in earnest under Dubya as a response to 9/11. The danger of terrorism has abated greatly, but most of the restrictions remain. I suggest that those were convenient for the Big Government right-wingers of recent years.
The optimal time for undoing the more severe gutting of personal freedom would have been in the wake of the whacking of Osama bin Laden, but any effort to do so would have failed. The Right wanted only the freedom to monopolize and gouge while smashing labor unions and weakening regulation of business on matters not related to terrorism (like environmental controls). 2. Without question, Donald Trump is an authoritarian leader who seeks to transform government into an enforcer of the will of the economic elites. Expecting him to undo the degradation of personal freedom beginning with Dubya is like expecting safe driving by a drunk. 3. The deficit has risen because of Dubya's wars for profit, the Panic of 2008 that looked like the start of another Great Depression, and big tax cuts for the Master Class under Dubya and Trump. 4. Trade deficits follow the business cycle. People import less in a recession. The best way to get balance-of-payments surpluses is to have a recession in one;s own country while other countries boom. 5. How does Trump differ from Obama? Trump lacks the personal integrity, caution, respect for expertise, modulated language, reverence for protocol and precedent, and compassion for people in bad situations that one associates with Obama. Trump has an image of the Presidency as a near-dictatorship in which he can order anyone in the government about as if he were their direct boss. He acts as if he can order a scientist to negate scientific research because the President believes that global warming is a hoax. The next effective conservative President will act more like Obama than like Trump. I have frequently compared Obama to Eisenhower.

Study Links Military Suicides, Firearm Access
graphic showing the words 'suicides,' 'depression,' and 'death' By Jason Devaney | Friday, 07 June 2019 12:32 PM A new study found a link between access to firearms and the growing problem of military suicides. The results of the study conducted by multiple psychology experts were published in the Journal of the American Medical Association on Friday. They showed that 135 active-duty Army soldiers who took their own lives were more likely to own firearms, have access to them, and keep ammunition at home. The study examined the self-inflicted deaths of the soldiers from Aug. 1, 2011 to Nov. 1, 2013. Those soldiers had higher rates of firearm ownership and access. "In this study, in addition to gun ownership, ease and immediacy of firearm access were associated with increased suicide risk," the study reads. "Discussion with family members and supervisors about limiting firearm accessibility should be evaluated for potential intervention." The study also noted that military suicides became more prevalent in the wake of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. 2012 saw the most suicides, and the rate is still higher than combat deaths. Last year, meanwhile, saw the highest rate of military suicides — a combined 321 among active-duty soldiers, Marines, airmen, and sailors — in six years. Alcohol is dangerous, though MJ, not so much, but the choice to use it rests with the user and most likely victim. Guns, on the other hand, only have one function: to make holes in things. If people are the chosen target, death is common. Why is this so hard?

Eating large amounts of sugar has some good point too (lots of potential energy there), but no one thinks it's worth the downside by any stretch of the imagination. That's my biggest gripe with the gun crowd. For example: when someone is trying to limit access to guns for people clearly unsuited to having them, the gun crowd complains that their right to get guns on demand is restricted … like a three or four day wait is gong to kill them. Proportionality is totally absent.

The response to tyranny is either revolution or surrender.
Americans used to have balls and resisted British tyranny. The USSR was a police state. Russians gave up and the Soviet Union collapsed. China had tyranny, but the Communists allowed the Chinese to start businesses. Cuba and North Korea are police states, but have not collapsed yet. Hong Kong and France are protesting tyranny. The US is now a police state, but Americans are weak, immoral, degraded, depraved, divided, distracted, and dependent on welfare and probably will not resist until the US implodes.

Looks like the elites have won everything. The globalists got bailouts, turned the US into a police state, increased the debt, and have launched endless wars and Americans walk around like zombies thinking everything is just fine.
Americans think that they have perfect safety and believe tyranny only applies to others. Not only have Commies lost their right to protest, but you did, too. Not only have Nazis lost their right to own a gun, but you did, too. Not only do drunk-drivers and illegal aliens need to go through checkpoints, but you do, too. Not only can junkies have their property forfeited, but you can, too. Not only Muslims can be groped by the TSA, be indefinitely detained without trial, be extra-judicially assassinated, and be wiretapped by the NSA, but you can, too. One bad thing about the US collapse is the waiting for this nightmare to end. The USA gets worse by the minute. What can you do now? Vote? Americans stab themselves in their eyes with icepicks and then become outraged that icepicks are not illegal. When will the stock market crash? Why can't the debt be paid down? Why doesn't the US default on the debt? Why can't smoking laws be repealed? Why aren't the wars ended? Why don't Americans get into the streets and break windows? Why don't Americans fire on police stations? Why don't states secede? You can either pay taxes that fund wars, debt, or tyranny or dropout and break the law by not paying taxes. Do Americans feel like guilty cowards now? What are Americans waiting for? Do you think tomorrow will be better? http://f2bbs.com/bbs |
