Why does Gen X act like they are the generation most impacted by abortion?
#1
If you look at the abortion statistics, only the very tail end of Gen X has higher abortion rates than those born in the 80s or early 90s. Someone born in the 80s was more likely to be aborted than someone born in the 70s.

Any context for the question? this Gen-X'er doesn't think we're any more or less impacted, but maybe I'm missing something.

Unless you speak of partial-birth abortion someone aborted never is born, strictly speaking. Aborted fetuses do not appear in demographic counts.

Because they were the first generation hit by it? At that time it was new, when the Millennials arrived, it was already established. For better or for worse.

I would think that Boomers, or possibly the Silents, would be the first generation impacted: they were the first childbearing-aged women for whom abortion became a legal option.

I fully agree with Gabrielle on this one.  Citing the affected age groups misses the point: you are not aborted since you are obviously here.  The most affected were the first wave of women who did have to decide to abort or not to abort.  Being male, that wasn't a burden for me directly, but it certainly was for many women I knew personally.

Gen X was arguably the most affected in terms of demographics, since abortion likely had a bigger effect on demographics when it was new, before people fully adjusted to its availability.

As this Wikipedia entry notes, it's hard to know for sure, but the Carter and Reagan years seem to be the peak.  That makes younger Xers and older Millies the most affected -- again, assuming the data are accurate.
