Careers ruined or at risk from accusations of sexual misconduct
Mainstream gays and lesbians sold out the child-abusing perverts (including users of child pornography) so that they could get rights of marriage and family. For me, as a straight male who was never interested in having illicit sex with a child, that is a win-win. For Jeffrey Epstein, should he be convicted, such would be a monumental disaster.

Except for LGBT rights, the American political climate has become more repressive on sexuality, as shown in efforts to outlaw abortion and limit contraception as well as the crackdown on child sexual abuse.

It begins to look like one of the strangest stories in American history.

The story originates in the New York Times, which has never been prone to yellow journalism. But this story explains some of the weird behavior of Jeffrey Epstein, who apparently saw himself as the progenitor of some 'super-race'. (A hint: if your surname is Epstein, you might be rightly wary of the concept of any 'super-race', in view of what such a concept does in the sick minds of people who consider people of his origin suited only for slaughter). The NYT is behind a paywall, but the Guardian is not, so I will give you the take in the Guardian:

........................................................................

Jeffrey Epstein, the wealthy financier accused of sex trafficking, planned to develop an improved super-race of humans using genetic engineering and artificial intelligence, according to the New York Times.

In the aftermath of his 2008 sex trafficking conviction, Epstein hoped to seed the human race with his DNA by impregnating women at his ranch in New Mexico, one of his properties where young women, including minors, were allegedly abused, the newspaper reported in a major investigation.

[Image: 3024.jpg?width=460&quality=85&auto=forma...47280e039b]
Jeffrey Epstein appears in court for first time since reported jail injuries

Though there is little evidence the scheme ever progressed beyond fantasy, prominent scientists, including the late Stephen Hawking, regularly attended dinners, lunches and conferences held by Epstein, the Times said.

Epstein has long been accused of sexually abusing underage girls. He also has purported connections to Donald Trump, Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew, and moved in elite social circles in New York, Florida and elsewhere.

He is currently in jail after being arrested on 6 July. He pleaded not guilty several weeks ago.

Epstein’s plans around his own progeny began to be talked about in the early 2000s, according to three sources contacted by the Times.
“Epstein told scientists and businessmen about his ambitions to use his New Mexico ranch as a base where women would be inseminated with his sperm and would give birth to his babies … Mr Epstein’s goal was to have 20 women at a time impregnated at his 33,000-sq-ft Zorro Ranch in a tiny town outside Santa Fe,” the Times said.

Epstein’s field of study was labeled “transhumanism” but was an updated version of eugenics. Lawyer Alan Dershowitz, who defended Epstein in 2008 and has been named in a civil suit brought by Epstein accuser Virginia Giuffre, told the Times he was appalled by the financier’s interest in genetic manipulation, given the Nazis’ use of eugenics in the 1930s.

“Everyone speculated about whether these scientists were more interested in his views or more interested in his money,” Dershowitz told the Times.

According to the paper, Epstein’s circle included the molecular engineer George Church; Murray Gell-Mann, the discover of the quark; the evolutionary biologist Stephen Jay Gould; the neurologist and author Oliver Sacks; and the theoretical physicist Frank Wilczek.
On one occasion, Epstein held a lunch at Harvard’s Program for Evolutionary Dynamics, a program he had helped fund with a $6.5m donation. In 2011, he gave $20,000 to the Worldwide Transhumanist Association, a project that now operates as Humanity Plus.
The Harvard cognitive psychologist Steven Pinker said he considered Epstein as an “intellectual impostor”.

“He would abruptly change the subject, ADD-style, dismiss an observation with an adolescent wisecrack,” Pinker told the paper. The virtual reality pioneer Jaron Lanier said Epstein’s ideas did not rise to science that could be subjected to critical analysis.

The scientific community, like Trump and much of New York and Palm Beach society, would sooner forget their association with Epstein.
Humanity Plus vice-chairman Ben Goertzel, whose salary was once paid by Epstein, told the Times: “I have no desire to talk about Epstein right now. The stuff I’m reading about him in the papers is pretty disturbing and goes way beyond what I thought his misdoings and kinks were. Yecch.”

Yecch, indeed.

Before anyone shows any sympathy for plans to breed any 'super race', let me remind you that many of the profoundest achievers in their fields come from very ordinary backgrounds. Ludwig van Beethoven came from a troubled family of little distinction. (The Dutch and Flemish van is not an aristocratic signal as is von in German-speaking countries). Booker T. Washington was not bred for intellectual brilliance, to put it mildly. Nobody would have had a clue about Thomas Edison from his family. To be sure, there are families such as the Bach, Mendelssohn, Adams, and Curie families that have churned out an inordinate share of high achievers, but this may more reflect good habits than good genes.

Any plan for breeding a 'master race' poses the risk of the bad effects of inbreeding. A plan to breed a wonderful Aryan population in Paraguay from among German settlers resulted in genetic diseases. The solution was for the descendants of those settlers to marry out -- to First Peoples populations. The best plans of swine and men... OK, there is nothing noble about any racist concepts.

It is more important that we seek out the highly-talented and cultivate their abilities while perhaps being aware that these people have problems that one does not want to propagate. As someone else suggested, we can only imagine what geniuses we have wasted by consigning them to roles as peasants and slaves, never to approach their potential -- and such is supreme tragedy.

Yeah, but not everyone from a small background becomes a Beethoven.

He could have chosen da Vinci, and made the same point.  We know excellence when we see it, but have no idea what fosters it.

Oh, no...

Quote:SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Two music companies canceled appearances by Placido Domingo and the Los Angeles Opera said Tuesday it would launch an investigation in response to an Associated Press story in which numerous women accused the opera legend of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior spanning decades.
Domingo has been general director of the LA Opera since 2003 and previously served as the company’s artistic director, jobs that gave him the power to cast roles and — his accusers say — make, or break, careers.
Some of the women told the AP that Domingo used his power at the LA company and elsewhere to try to pressure them into sexual relationships, with several saying that he dangled jobs and then sometimes punished them professionally if they refused his advances.

Yeah, but not everyone from a small background becomes a Beethoven.

...or an Edison. or a Goethe. or a Hokusai.

Lots of people from small backgrounds of little talent become farm laborers... we do need food.

Let me tell you something else. There are good people in every social class. Also -- no matter how sophisticated our technology and refined our culture, we still need food.

Another Republican politician. The Party of Family Values has another one in deep trouble, this time for getting involved with child pornography.

HARRISBURG — A Pennsylvania state lawmaker is facing child pornography possession charges after authorities say a social media website told them the user had uploaded an image using its service.

Sen. Michael Folmer, R-Lebanon, was charged after an investigation prompted by Tumblr, an electronic service provider, reported one of its users had uploaded a child porn image, the attorney general’s office said.

The investigation led to Folmer’s home. The attorney general’s office’s Child Predator Section, Lebanon city police and U.S. Department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant at Folmer’s home, and reportedly found child porn images on his phone.

“This defendant serves as a state Senator and was entrusted to honor and represent his community in the Pennsylvania Capitol,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in a news release. “Tonight, our Office arrested Mr. Folmer for possession of child pornography and charged him with Sexual Abuse of Children, Possession of Child Pornography, and Criminal Use of a Communication Facility. I will continue to say it — no one is above the law, no matter what position of power they hold. I will continue to work to protect children and hold those who abuse them accountable.”

Folmer is charged with sexually abusing children, child porn possession and criminally using a communication facility.

A message left at Folmer’s listed home telephone number wasn’t immediately returned, and neither were messages for his lawyer.

The 63-year-old Republican was elected to a fourth term in November. Long considered one of the chamber’s most conservative members, Folmer was crucial to helping swing Republican votes behind a bill to legalize medical marijuana in 2016.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the ouster of the McDonald’s CEO over a consensual relationship with an employee. Sorry, but as long as she didn’t directly report to him I feel that companies trying to dictate people’s love life and whom they can’t fall in love with is going way too far. People marrying their subordinates is not all that unusual, my own parents having been one example. Ann my dad was a stickler for not mixing business with pleasure. Wonder if they would have been afraid to even talk to each other in today’s corporate climate. And this whole anti-relationship culture was force fed to the corporate world following the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill saga and went into overdrive with the advent of #MeToo.

I guess that most of the tales that I bring are of lurid misconduct -- sex with minors, child porn, rape-in-all-but-name... The times are changing, and they now show little tolerance for exploitative sexuality between bosses and subordinates.

It could be that such behavior used to be covered up, with a company's lawyer typically seeking the minimal payout to the victim in exchange for a non-disclosure conttract. So she is driving a ten-year-old car, so give her enough for a new car. That ought to get us some peace... it goes to court only if she is an extreme gold-digger, and if she is we can maker her look like a whore to a civil jury.

Beware the miracle worker too good to be true.

VATICAN CITY (AP) — The Legion of Christ religious order, which was discredited by its pedophile founder and the cult-like practices he imposed, says an internal investigation has identified 33 priests and 71 seminarians who sexually abused minors over the past eight decades.

A third of the priestly abusers were themselves victims of the Legion’s late founder, the Rev. Marcial Maciel, while others were victims of his victims — a multi-generational chain of abuse that confirms Maciel’s toxic influence spread throughout the order.

The Legion counted 175 victims of the priests, but didn’t provide a number for the victims of the seminarians, most of whom were never ordained and left the congregation.

The Legion released the statistics on Saturday, the same day Pope Francis accepted the resignation of the Legion’s biggest defender at the Vatican, Cardinal Angelo Sodano, as dean of the College of Cardinals.

Sodano, who was secretary of state under St. John Paul II, had for years blocked the Vatican from investigating sex abuse allegations against Maciel, even though the Vatican had documented evidence dating from the 1940s that he was a drug addict and pedophile. Under John Paul, however, Maciel was adored at the Vatican for his supposed orthodoxy and ability to produce donations and vocations.

The Vatican in 2010 took over the Mexico-based Legion and imposed a process of reform after an investigation showed that Maciel had sexually abused seminarians and fathered at least three children with two women. The Vatican found he had created a system of power built on silence, deceit and obedience that enabled him lead a double life “devoid of any scruples and authentic sense of religion.”

Two-thirds of the Legion’s priestly victims — 60 — were Maciel’s victims, the report found. Most were boys between age 11 and 16.

The 33 priestly abusers represented 2.44% of the 1,353 Legion priests ordained since 1941, the report found. That percentage is far lower than national averages of credibly accused priests over a similar period in the U.S. or Australia, where the percentages are 5.8 and seven, respectively.

The Legion acknowledged that more victims may come forward with other accusations, and attributed the comparatively low percentage to the fact that 60 of the seminarians who abused weren’t ordained as priests.
The Legion only published the names of four U.S.-based priests who were among the 33 abusers, saying ethical and legal considerations prevented identifying the others. U.S. religious orders and dioceses have been publishing names of credibly accused priests following the re-eruption of the scandal there.

Another man who somehow confused "Let us pray" and "Let us prey":

Alabama evangelist Paul Acton Bowen was sentenced Friday to 1,008 years in prison- the maximum on all counts - for his guilty pleas to sexually abusing a half dozen teenagers.
In addition, he was ordered to pay $840,000 in fines for all counts, also the maximum.
Bowen, 39, entered guilty pleas earlier this month in Etowah County to 28 counts of sexual abuse involving six male victims between the ages of 13 and 16. The charges included enticing a child for a sexual act, sodomy, traveling to meet a child for a sexual act and sexual abuse.

Cases like those of Weinstein’s and Bill Cosby were horrific to be sure and both deserve to be put away for sure. However, I tend to believe that the unfortunate byproduct of not only the #MeToo movement and others like it is that there’s the potential for experiencing difficulties in some of our personal relationships as well. A few bad folks tend to ruin things for all the rest of us. The sexual revolution era was a wild and fun time in many ways, but we have seen the period’s dark side come home to roost a full half century later. Much harm can stem from miscommunications and misunderstandings which can lead to careers being torpedoed for much less severe action than what those two men did. And while the initial crackdown on workplace harassment began following the Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas episode nearly three decades ago and was force fed to the entire business community, it has been carried to such an extreme that even a sincere compliment can potentially get you in trouble. Seems we have become too sensitive and too insensitive at the same time. In fact there may be a correlation between this and the fact of more people preferring to be alone these days, hence the rise I such services as home delivery of food. We could benefit from putting in the energy to maintain what relationships we do have, but often lack the will to do so.

There will always be unforeseen consequences. As bad as sexual abuse of women is I can think of something even worse: abuse of children by a lover or stepfather. A few years ago there was a case on a Reservation in Michigan in which a man killed the potential stepchildren. There is a reasonably good stop against that: a woman can get a criminal record check upon a man. If he isn't willing to submit to that, then something is wrong with him. It is better to have no man than to end up with someone who will hurt his stepchildren.  A criminal records check can also detect a history of other violence or irresponsible behavior, including drug offenses, DUI, theft, and assaults. A credit check also can help in detecting overspenders and people who default on bills.

...America is becoming more repressive about sexuality. Even same-sex marriage comes with an implicit crackdown on certain forms of sexual misconduct: child abuse. To get marital rights, mainstream gays and lesbians threw the child-molesting perverts under the bus. Count on gays and lesbians protecting children just as straights do. Date-rape drugs are now banned. Violence relating to sex isn't sexy, but it has been effective. It is now easier to prosecute, and juries are becoming less tolerant of sexual violence. The trucking industry (truckers are especially prone to using the services of prostitutes) has been issuing warnings about involvement with females who may have been trafficked. Trucking companies may be scared that a trucker will be busted for sex with someone underage and put the rig and the load at risk of seizure in such an event.

Cosby, Weinstein, and Epstein got away with what they did longer than others did -- into at least their late sixties when caught. Others who emulate their scummy behavior will be caught earlier.

I don't know how far we will go to respond to the climate of sexual repression.... arranged marriages? Or will people be expected to find safe situations (churches, social clubs, college?) in which people go through the old-fashioned "date and rate". Some tendencies repeat. Human needs and desires don't change; expressions and practices do.

But what might the future hold for some of the fallen from grace who misdeeds weren't serious enough to warrant prison time, such as Matt Lauer, Tavis Smiley and more recently Chris Matthews? None of these are really old enough to fully retire. Might they be forced into creating their own businesses?

I am reminded of one once-prominent journalist who got caught in a scandal involving (I forget -- plagiarism or fabrication?). A few years later he was discovered at a department store selling underwear. Such was all that he was deemed qualified to do. Minimum wage.

As for the others -- F--- 'em. Many of us would have been delighted to hold their jobs. I would not put mine at risk through sexual harassment any more than I would through embezzlement. In view of the damage that sexual harassment can do to a company, sexual harassment is every bit as harmful as embezzlement because the loss comes through the legal system in a loss far greater than sticky fingers can do.

The generational cycle suggests that a return to patterns of the 1T -- when employers assumed and expected marital fidelity as evidence of trustworthiness with corporate assets and image -- could be returning soon. The star system that concentrates so much reward in so few people makes betrayals of trust even more devastating to corporate assets and image.

OK, so we are more mature about LGBT sex. That can stick.

No wonder they want to change that name so quickly! It looks as if there was some grossly sexually-incorrect behavior that is a major disgrace. The politically-incorrect Washington Redskins are better described as "red-handed".

The Washington football team continues to be in the news and while the club is getting a new name and logo, the major looming story is not about that.
The buzz about an incriminating article continues to grow with various media members tweeting out about a potential bombshell that was set to drop. Details were slow to emerge but we know that lawyers were getting involved, as Pro Football Action relayed. Now, we know a bit more about the potential scandal.

The franchise has hired DC attorney Beth Wilkinson to review the organization’s protocols, league sources tell Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

Schefter also confirmed the rumored article from The Washington Post will indeed highlight the current culture within the franchise.
The franchise recently fired their director of pro personnel Alex Santos and assistant pro personnel Richard Mann II. They have since been replaced. The team added former Redskins tight end Don Warren as the assistant director of pro personnel, which brought some excitement to fans. However, perhaps details surrounding the dismal of Santos and Mann may put a blanket on any kind of enthusiasm for the organization.

Potential Ownership Change in Washington?

While it’s too early to tell if the looming news will force majority owner Dan Synder to sell the team, his minority stakeholders are looking for a way out.
Dwight Schar, Fred Smith and Robert Rothman are the three investors who own 40% of the team and they are not pleased with something going on in the organization, according to Pro Football Talk.
Synder, who resides in Potomac, Maryland, bought the Redskins back in 1999, spending $750 million to do so. According to Forbes, the franchise is now worth $3.4 billion.

Past History of Unprofessional Behavior
Back in 2018, there were reports of unacceptable protocols by the franchise when the Redskins took their cheerleaders to Costa Rica for a photo shoot.
There was a red flag immediately upon arrival. The team collected the cheerleaders’ passports, which in many cases was the girls’ only identifications. According to Juliet Macur of The New York Times, many of the girls said they were required to be topless for shoots even though the calendar would not show nudity.

The team reportedly allowed a group of sponsors and suite holders (all men) to access the photoshoot and get up close to the cheerleaders. At the conclusion of one of the 14-hour days, the girls were told that there was more work to be done, as Macur details.
Quote:They had a special assignment for the night. Some of the male sponsors had picked them to be personal escorts at a nightclub.
“So get back to your room and get ready,” the director told them. Several of them began to cry.
“They weren’t putting a gun to our heads, but it was mandatory for us to go,” one of the cheerleaders said. “We weren’t asked, we were told. Other girls were devastated because we knew exactly what she was doing.”
Sex was not involved in the arrangements, though Macur writes that many of the cheerleaders were uncomfortable with everything that went on.
