They also do the same thing in the debates. I assure you that the last thing either major party wants to do is debate libertarians.
The only place a debate with libertarians would be a net plus is on Comedy Central. We all need a good laugh.
Let us assume for a moment that that you're not a clueless boomer who doesn't know what they are talking about (which itself is very hard to do since you're referencing a cable channel and Tee-Vee is pretty much a dead medium for anyone under 40). Then it would stand to reason that both parties should want the Libertarians at the debate, if only to demonstrate how the two sides of the uniparty differ.
However, the RNC and DNC have gone out of their way to prevent third party candidates. So the question becomes why? Are they so humorless as you suggest? I would venture not. Rather, they are concerned that they might move the Overton Window into a direction that both committees have not mutually agreed is where it should be.
That is to say that the Libertarians (and any other third party that has the potential to get on the ballot in other states--Florida is unique in that it lets all parties on the ballot provided they pay the fee) constitute a threat to the two sides of the uniparty.
But of course, you, Mr. Horn are a clueless boomer so we can completely disreguard your comment altogether.
It really is all mathematics.
