That's how it looks now. Reworked to some extent, but I still use the 5 sector model:
Koneczny and Toynbee speculated about defining various geographically defined civilizations, like Roman, Arab, Chinese, and assigning unique traits to each of them. This effort was futile, humans everywhere keep asking the same questions and get similar answers. What is closest to having multiple civilizations here on Earth is the five mindsets I portray here:
The Brown mindset is the ancient warrior mindset, which values above all the unity and strength of the tribe. Masculinity and bravery are the greatest virtues for Brown types. It's as old as mankind, but has been revamped and given scientific rationalization by 19th century social Darwinists.
The Blue mindset was born in antiquity, conceived by figures like Echnaton in Egypt, Abraham in Israel, Zoroaster in Persia and Pythagoras in Greece. Jesus rebelled against the spirit of theocracy embodied by the Pharisees, but the triumph of Christianity under Constantine was the triumph of Abrahamic theocracy. So was the ascent of Islam. The Middle Ages were the true blue era.
The Yellow and Red mindsets are siblings in a way. Both come from a "victorious civilization" background, which started during the Renaissance and achieved its height in the Industrial Age, which is defined by the struggle between the two. Both also share the idea of rational self-interest. For Yellows it works on individual level, and for Reds on class level.
The Purple mindset started already in the 19th century with some "countercultural" thinkers like Stirner or Freud, but only gained momentum with the hippies. It's a wedge between the conflicted Capitalist and Communist brothers, and some supporters of radical 1960s ideas adopted elements of either Yellow or Red. Now we see a fusion between Purple ideas and science, which means it's no longer a counterculture and it needs a new name. "Inclusive" is clearly a buzzword for this sector, at least online. So I went for "Inclusivist".
BTW science can be used to justify each mindset, maybe except theocratic Blue. Thus we have scientific capitalism (1980s market fundies), scientific communism (Soviets), scientific nationalism (neoreaction).
