The solution to that is to completely discount what follows because people with poor command of the facts get horrible conclusions even with solid logic.

All of us seem to have some set of ideology as a blinder, but eventually reality overpowers ideology. If ideology is nothing more than values, then values are unassailable. There are people who believe that they have some entitlement to abuse children, and nothing can remove that belief -- only take away the opportunity.
