Also, being a parent is now fashionable. Maturity is fashionable (including growing a beard). And I remember the cult of youth.
Actually youth is even more in. Anime, comics, Pokémon, cartoons, children's toys and collections, video games, and being childfree are major trends right now. Maybe I'm biased though because a lot of these people are first wave Millennials in software engineering/STEM fields who tend to have a lot of opposite views politically from the average Millennial.
