For a short time in the 1920's (which was before the Crisis) many Americans had a dalliance with the KKK.
However the English speaking countries, did not have much an experience of fascism not to mention authoritarianism during the last Crisis. However in this one we are certainly getting an experience of what Fascism was like, with Authoritarian Nationalists, already Britain, America and Australia have strongman authoritarian nationalist leaders.
And not surprising, all three have dominant press presence by the Murdock Clan. This may be the time that freedom of the press gets targeted for incubating the crises in all three, but to what end I can't say. Let's hope that neo-sedition acts don't pop up to "correct the imbalance between governance and press freedom".
Much of the problem arises from an educational system that has sought to get a more equal economic result among the proles by training people to take places as low-paid workers in retail stores and food-processing plants, casinos, and car servicing. To that end nobody needs any idea of how to live because one who does such work will struggle to survive. Get a small windfall? Then use it in a trip to the casino... and lose it playing slots, or get drunk on mass-market booze or beer. Fir equality among the proles we get mass poverty and lives that, if we are in any way prepared for something else, would be insufferable.
Getting along in some workplaces requires that one not think, for if one did one would realize how exploited one is and how hopeless the reality is.
