I'm annoyed by this trend given
1) half of what they're talking about is Gen X.
2) Boomers aren't actually uber-conservative. They're relatively split between parties
3) The "selfish" label that gets hoisted onto boomers is, as with millennials, misplaced in most instances. More often than not, the boomers I know are quite generous, even more if they think you're interested in their beliefs and life experience.
4) The reason for point 3 has largely to do with point 2. Boomers didn't change as much because they debated passionately among themselves, not because they were all super selfish and just wanted to hoard shit.
Moralistic? Yes. Stubborn as hell? You bet. Selfish....sorry, that's gonna be a no, at least not nearly to the degree that many millennials tend to think. Probably because millennials are too fixated on other people and don't display enough selfishness.
Admittedly though, part of the reason I'm a little less harsh on them than other millennials is that I generally have a strong dislike for the prophet/idealist archetype as a whole. It helps that their values are generally pretty decent compared to other generations from that part of the saeculum (ex: The Puritans and Transcendentalists were horrible. I would have hated them with a passion growing up around either lmao. While sometimes difficult to deal with, boomers brought us greater individualism and a renewal of the freedom fighting American spirit. I can get behind that much at least).
