** 07-Jun-2021 World View: Greece and Turkey
Tensions between Greece and Turkey have always been high, ever since
Helen's face launched a thousand ships. Greece and Turkey tensions
were also the reason that Truman announced the Truman Doctrine, making
America the Policeman of the World.
Most recently, Greece and Turkey have been at loggerheads over
drilling for oil in the waters around Cyprus. And let's not forget
that Turkey sent millions of refugees from Syria into Europe through
Greece.
Nonetheless, both countries are members of Nato, and a military action
by one Nato country against another would bring in other Nato
countries, so it's unlikely that anything will happen at the present
time.
Greece's last generational crisis war was World War II.
Turkey's last generational crisis war was World War I, and the
destruction of the Ottoman Empire. Turkey is one of a handful of
countries on the WW I timeline (Mexico, Turkey, Morocco, Saudi Arabia
and Russia) that are in a Fifth Turning, since the Fourth Turning has
passed without a new crisis war.
