Right now, no billionaires pay taxes.  I'm just hoping battle lines are drawn so that Trump will start taxing the financial billionaires, which are mostly left leaning, even if productive billionaires such as himself still don't pay taxes.

Productive?  How?  He just moves other peoples money around like the rest of them.  Do you honestly think he funds his own hotels ... or anything Trump?

He's not going to tax his fellow ruling-class members. I wouldn't bet on it.

Donald Trump makes his money the easiest way possible short of simply lending it to an institution or overt theft: leasing high-end property to a captive market in places with a permanent shortage of housing. By setting a price high enough and the only tenants that one will get are those who won't even be slow to pay. It's not like the high-end fashion business in which six-month-old styles are already obsolete, like production of scripted screen entertainment which requires a meeting of visual and literary art that few people can do well singly, like high-tech businesses in which software and components are obsolete almost before they are released, or the auto industry in which every component must be freshly engineered every couple of years at a reasonable cost. Retail bankers must choose their borrowers based upon complicated formulas so that they avoi8d getting conned for uncollectable loans that charming grifters can get. That's before I mention such professions as law, medicine, architecture, engineering, research science, accountancy, and college-level academia in which a participant needs a nimble mind.

He is a rentier; he invests with the expectation of a steady stream of income larger than some imputed interest rate o0nce he has a project built. He fails to understand how complex reality can be for, for example, a school teacher, social worker, registered nurse, police officer, or store manager.

..and "Obozo" has approval ratings well into the 50s, which is pretty damn good. If disdain for president Obama is simply ideological, then such reflects more upon the person than upon the President.

He has a clear business focus, unlike pure investors like Buffett who will jump from industry to industry with each deal.  A clear business focus is also true of, say, the Kochs.  I'm open to other terms - managerial billionaires, maybe? - but there is a distinction to be made between the pure investors and the overgrown family businesses.

And here's a great one... from one of the greatest actresses of her time (Meryl Streep last night):

As an actor myself (as my attempts to seem normal are acting) I realize how difficult acting can be. The great actors are learned, thoughtful, brilliant people. Meryl Streep is no exception.

She gave a scathing review of a very bad act in 2016. I need say no more than that. Just watch the clip.

I guess we could call the Trump presidency "cognitive dissonance."

Acting is not hard. Acting is very easy and natural. It is reality that is hard because you cannot escape it entirely.

He's talking about reality.

Yes, acting in real life. He said "(as my attempts to seem normal are acting) I realize how difficult acting can be."

That is saying that he is acting in real life and that acting is difficult. Acting is not difficult. It is reality and being truthful to yourself that is difficult to face.

Hey, I have an idea.  You watch The Accountant too, and try to remain as expressionless as the protagonist for just one day.  According to your theory, it should be easy.

It is not a theory. This is what I have lived. I have had acting training for several years and it is easy. Pretending to be someone else in life was easy. Admitting who i was was extremely hard as well as admitting what life has been like has also been hard. Fantasy is easy. This is something I have lived so it is very real for me. No theory. Maybe to you as you have not stepped into my shoes.

Acting isn't just fantasy.  Not if you don't get to choose your roles.

Sort of fights with the notion that Hollywood is on the Democrat's side...  Wink

But it's good to still see some signs of 'optimism'.  'Climaxing' with Donald?  Does this mean the perspectives and desires of the rural / Republican population can't result in someone worse than Donald?  A reasonable assumption, perhaps...
