Trump Aides Keep Leaking Embarrassing Stories About How He Can’t Handle Embarrassment

Quote:On Sunday, one of the president’s confidantes told Politico that his staffers have to “control information that may infuriate him,” a task made difficult by the fact that the leader of the free world “gets bored and likes to watch TV."

...and then, on Monday night, Trump’s staffers whispered an even more vivid account of his rough weekend to the Washington Post.

Quote:President Trump had just returned to the White House on Saturday from his final inauguration event, a tranquil interfaith prayer service, when the flashes of anger began to build.

Trump turned on the television to see a jarring juxtaposition — massive demonstrations around the globe protesting his day-old presidency and footage of the sparser crowd at his inauguration, with large patches of white empty space on the Mall. As his press secretary, Sean Spicer, was still unpacking boxes in his spacious new West Wing office, Trump grew increasingly and visibly enraged…Over the objections of his aides and advisers — who urged him to focus on policy and the broader goals of his presidency — the new president issued a decree: He wanted a fiery public response, and he wanted it to come from his press secretary.

...after forcing Spicer to baldly lie to the White House press corps about the size of his inauguration crowd, the president fumed that his press secretary’s performance was “not forceful enough.” According to Axios, Trump was also incensed by Spicer’s poor taste in suits, and is already considering treating the former RNC staffer to his signature catchphrase.

I wonder if all his ridiculous behavior is a convenient distraction; it didn't seem to bother his voters. Everyone knows or was told that he was completely unfit for the presidency because of his temperament. Why would anyone be surprised or further repelled now?

Meanwhile, despite his boredom and embarrassment or whatever, he seems quite efficient at dishing out Executive Orders and making threats; some of which may give his voters the impression that he's a man of action, unlike the politicians he criticized. But most of those actions will set the nation back on just about every road to progress, justified by an ever-growing stream of lies and "alternative facts." And Americans are some of the most easily-fooled people in the world, with the possible exception of the Russians; sure, I'll give us that one.

Our only hope lies in the resistance and the Awakening Regeneracy. It will be have to be even bigger than it is now to stop this trainwreck. "I love trains" said one sign at the rally (see below). We've got a big one going, and it's taking us off a cliff in a crash we would not survive unless it is stopped.

A complete circus.

Let's get down and dirty with this. Here I reach out to those of you who consider yourselves Rightists. At one point does the circus element and the dis functional behavior become too much to bear? Or, do you believe that in fact Trump does not behave dis functionally, and that the circus element is some sort of construct of the MSM?

I am asking this in a bit of an amicus fashion - amicus to Rightists, not to Trump.

Do share.

With regard to this specific story, I'd say we can wait a few weeks and know the truth.  If Spicer stays on, then this is just Politico stirring the pot.  If Spicer resigns and gives a tell all interview, we'll know it was true.

The inauguration crowd size story has definitely been blown out of proportion.  The pictures which seem to show a much smaller crowd for Trump than for Obama are taken from the Washington Monument end of the mall, and in addition the Trump picture is from an hour before swearing in, while the Obama picture is from half an hour before swearing in, after more people had a chance to gather.  Pictures taken from the Capitol Building end of the mall with Obama speaking in 2009 and Trump speaking in 2017 do not show any visible difference in crowd size.  The mall is long enough that pictures taken from either end don't really show the other end very well, though.

The accepted estimate for Obama's 2009 crowd was 1,800,000, so Trump's estimate of 1,000,000 to 1,500,000 for this year seem like they may be in the ballpark.  The initial press estimates for Trump of 250,000 must be way off, or else the 2009 estimates were way off.

Essentially Trump caught the press in a lie, and responded with a lie of his own.  The circus element is in my opinion the result of interaction between the two.  Trump's press secretary ends up communicating Trump's lie, but that's no different from what Carney did for Obama.

I don't know whether it works in Trump's favor or against him.  I do know it works against the media.  When the media starts sprinkling the word "false" in front of "claim" in their headlines, as has started happening in the last couple of days, they completely discredit themselves as objective sources; an objective source would either ignore false claims, or present them objectively and allow the reader to decide whether they were false.  Basically Trump has managed to drag the media down to the level of Twitter, which can't be good for them.

One could argue that it can't be good for a President to communicate primarily through Twitter in the first place, but it does seem to put him on the wavelength of the average American.  It may turn out to be an effective way of bypassing the press as FDR's fireside chats did.

That goodness the press is calling a lie, a lie. That is doing their duty. It is the American people's duty to understand and perceive when their leaders lie. I suspect that you and many others have lost that ability. I hope I am wrong.

Trump's supporters will just dismiss all this as "fake news", they have all been conditioned to ignore actual facts and believe only what Dear Leader tells them.

President Trump Orders the Execution of Five Turkeys Pardoned by Obama
2 DAYS AGO by R. HOBBUS J.D.
http://realnewsrightnow.com/2017/01/pres...ned-obama/

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In another sweeping move aimed at undoing the perceived damage done by the Obama administration, President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday directing the Department of Justice to revoke all sixteen Thanksgiving Day turkey pardons issued by the former president during his eight years in office.

“After reviewing the decisions made by the previous administration, President Trump has determined that a number of turkey pardons issued by Barack Obama were done so in a manner that was both deceitful and hazardous to the American people,” White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer announced on Tuesday. “This morning, the president once again used his executive powers to see to it that justice is served and that the surviving creatures will be destroyed.”

Spicer said very little is known about the true origins of the sixteen turkeys or why they were specifically singled out by former President Barack Obama. “There are a lot of obvious questions we just don’t have the answers to. Were they connected to radical Islamic terrorism? Black Lives Matter extremists? We can’t be sure,” he said. “All we know is they were sentenced to death and Obama took it upon himself to meddle in the independent judicial process.”

Of the sixteen turkeys pardoned by Obama, all but five are deceased. “These birds, despite their deaths, will have their pardons revoked posthumously during a ceremony in the Rose Garden,” Secretary Spicer explained. The remaining birds – Tater, Tot, Abe, Honest, and Cheese – are scheduled to be remanded into federal custody on Friday before they are turned over to officials from the Federal Bureau of Prisons who are under orders to execute the turkeys by firing squad.

The annual Thanksgiving Day turkey pardon dates back to 1863 when President Abraham Lincoln first granted clemency to his son’s beloved pet turkey which the First Family had intended to feast on for Thanksgiving dinner.

It's been said that becoming president ages one.  With Obama, over a period of eight years his hair went grey quite a bit.

Is it my imagination, or has Trump's orange hair gone white in a matter of months?

I suspect that in this case the color change is another lie, a PR trick to deceive the American People.  Wink

As with many of your posts, the above is a good example of demonization. Obama was depicted as a muslim terrorists and as a monkey. A hostile press with repeated propaganda can try to poison the public's mind, to build a vile stereotype of what a politician is really like. Alas, such efforts can to a great degree succeed. Extreme partisans are willing and ready to make any excuse to present their own leaders and being, wise and dignified while believing the worst of the other side's politicians.

I don't have a lot of sympathy with Trump when he presents the press as hostile. Hostile? If anyone opposes him in any way, be they press, beauty pageant contestants, gold star parents, whomever, he will attack, insult and demean. To a great degree he has earned a hostile press and deserves what is coming.

But as a continuous barrage of hateful propaganda seeps into a partisan group, the conversation is poisoned. Does the above caricature of Trump have any more merit that Obama as a terrorist? If the above reflects the alternate universe you live in, is there no wonder you can't deal with reality?
