I'd love to change the world, but I don't know what to do, so I leave it up to you.
Words that echo one of my "best songs ever" from 1966, which I'll get to when we get there. (if you want to know, go to my website and my top 400 and click on #4)

1979 was a year full of forgettable tripe, but also a few memorable ones that are now part of our culture (like "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge). People can always take a tour of a year with videos like this one
https://youtu.be/aSohu_J6oHM Take the Long Way Home by Supertramp, Sending Out an SOS by The Police, and Don't Stop Till you Get Enough by Michael Jackson were good. So far I haven't found or remembered a better one than this one though:

1978 was the climax of the disco craze and the year of Grease/50s nostalgia, John Travolta, etc.
Among the songs Billboard claims are the top 100 hits, I like these: Bee Gees, Stayin' Alive Frankie Valli, Grease Chuck Mangione, Feels So Good Gerry Rafferty, Baker Street Kansas, Dust in the Wind Steely Dan, Peg Jackson Browne, Running on Empty (I like several of his) The top song for me though has to be from the year's album by The Who, Who Are You: Sister Disco

B-52s, ha!
Fun, but the New Wave splashed over me and doesn't sweep me away. Being of a classical background, I prefer richer instrumentation and feeling in my music.

Best songs of 1977 have to include at least one from the album of the year, Rumors by Fleetwood Mac. My favorite:
Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow is famous as Bill Clinton's theme song.

1977 was the best year for pop music in the later 1970s. Another top album was Hotel California by the Eagles. Lots of people love that title song, but New Kid in Town is my pick for the best song of 1977.
