My additions are in bold.

I am going to take out those who are controversial solely for their politics unless the politician is an extremist or a criminal (which includes things from bribe-taking to genocide). Some people think that Donald Trump is wonderful, so that is controversy.  I am surprised that you have Colin Kaepernick, but not Pete Rose or Tonya Harding, disgraces to their sport. Kaepernick is on your list for his political views which are not disgraces; you could as easily put Lou Whitaker on the list for not honoring the flag, but as a Jehovah's Witness he deserves credit for honoring a tenet of his religious faith that says that saluting a flag is an act of idolatry. Rachel Dolezal seems not to have hurt anyone other than her parents (who may have messed her up), which is more than I can say of Tonya Harding. Louis Farrakhan hasn't caused any deaths, but Marshall Applewhite did in "Heaven's Gate". Besides, as a religious figure, either Jimmy Swaggart, Robert Tilton, Jim Bakker, or any of the priestly abusers of children is far more disgraceful.

GIs have plenty of rogues due to Communism (Ceausescu, Honecker, Kim il-Sung), Nazism (Kaltenbrunner, Mengele, Eichmann, Ilse Koch, Irma Grese, etc.), Apartheid, and garden-variety crime (Clyde Barrow, Bonnie Parker, John Dillinger) and some murderous nutcases (Ed Gein, Jesse Unruh). Sam Bowers, a leader of the violent post-WWII Klan, would be on that list, as would be plenty of dictators.

Oh -- I can't identify the computer scammers who claim to have locked my computer unless I pay to remove their ransomware.
The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the dedicated Communist  but instead the people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction, true and false, no longer exists -- Hannah Arendt.

mass murderers need no comment.

The list is predominantly American, but not exclusively so. Probably there's a lot more non-american bad apples.

Good idea though. You made some wrong choices, but it's fair to point out bad apples.

I would definitely add George W Bush to the list (b.1946, Boomer). His decision led directly to the killing of about 400,000 people in an unnecessary war. Some of his neo-con henchmen might also be added.

I would add Anders Breivik, the Norwegian mass murderer who killed 77 people b. 1979, Gen X

The only Jesse Unruh I know was a very effective CA legislative leader who acted as a counter to Ronald Reagan.

Bashar Hafez al-Assad is the worst mass murderer alive today. b.1965

Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, senior leader of the terrorist organization Islamic State, b.1971. He had many henchmen

Abdelhamid Abaaoud, primary leader of Paris terrorist attack and others, b.1987

Rodrigo Roa Duterte mass murderer as leader of Philippines. b.1945

1979, Gen X

The only Jesse Unruh I know is a very effective CA legislative leader who acted as a counter to Ronald Reagan.

I may have the wrong "Unruh", a fellow in New Jersey who did a mass murder.

Anders Breivink -- the name slipped me. Thank you.

I was tempted to have Mitch McConnell, Dennis Hastert, George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Trump, and Karl Rove among the bad guys. I couldn't quite place which Nixon operative was worst. In their cases one has a cast of dozens of characters. I could have given other corrupt pols like Dan Rostenkowski, "Duke" Cunningham, Rod Blagojevich, and William Jefferson who actually got caught stealing... and I don't mean second base.

Dennis Rader was active in the Wichita, and not the Boston area.

It would be easy to mention high-profile killers like Perry Smith, Richard Hickcock, Gary Gilmore, and the like, but infamy and intensity of evil do not match.

Donald Trump is really bad if he should set in motion a course of events that leads to a dictatorial America.

People should not be on this list for disagreement with one. People would be here for at least disgrace, if not doing something horrible (somehow I missed William Calley, who might have done more than anyone else to discredit American involvement in the Vietnam War than any anti-war activist). I could not fact-check those on this list quickly enough, but I don;t see what is so horrible about Anita Sarkeesian.

Good idea though. You made some wrong choices, but it's fair to point out bad apples.
I believe that XXXTentacion has done violence against a pregnant woman and had absolutely no remorse of it.
Trippie Redd was a Blood.
Danielle Bregoli stole her mother's credit card, stole a car, and had behavior on Dr. Phil that made her infamous.
Varg Vikernes burnt down four churches as well.
Rachel Dolezal has done welfare fraud and lied about her race.
Inna Shevchenko's group, FEMEN, is notorious for their nude protests that sometimes escalated into violence.
Louis Farrakhan is very notorious for his racism and openly calls for violence against white people. He is basically the black version of David Duke.
Cory Booker has called for violence against the Paul family (Rand Paul and Kelly Paul).
Linda Sarsour is a vitriolic anti-Semite.
Black Panther Party is basically a black version of the KKK or any alt-right group (League of the South, Vanguard America, Identity Evropa, etc).
Hillary Clinton had that e-mail controversy.
Maxine Waters openly encourages violence and harassment towards her political opponents.
I probably should have not added Kaia James, but I have a feeling that she will eventually end up like Anita Sarkeesian as she gets older.

Yes, Bobby Fischer is a disgrace as a self-hating Jew. This is to be distinguished from German-Americans who hate Nazis or Italian-Americans who hate the Mafia, as Nazis and the Mafia are themselves disgraces. Fischer came to hate the whole of his Jewish heritage. There are far more than enough gentiles who hate Jews to the extent that they would like to 'complete' the Holocaust. Such people need no Jewish traitors to aid them. If someone like David Lane is on the Evil List, then so belongs Bobby Fischer.

Sure, American Jews are a model minority... but so were German Jews before 1933.

The killer was Howard Unruh (1921-2009) -- definitely not Jesse.

I note that we missed Assad pere and fils, Phil Spector, Richard Speck, Andrei Chikatilo, and Rae Carruth.

Some other disgraces: Bill Cosby, Robert Blake, Jayson Blair, David Irving, Jean Marie LePen, Pamela Geller, Dan Rostenkowski, William "Cold Cash" Jefferson, the Koch brothers... who was the leader of the Order of the Solar Temple?

Thanks for your clarifications. It's a matter of comparing people who did a few wrong things with mass murderers, I guess, but bad apples are what you decide they are, I guess. If they have some spots, the grocer throws them out. It would be wise to check out XXXTentacion before including him on this list.

Of course Hillary Clinton email scandal was a non-scandal. Maxine gets riled up, but nothing she said has resulted in violence. Same with Booker. The notions of the Black Panthers tend to be gross exaggerations.

Give antisemites propaganda for use against Jews, disparaging fellow Jews. I admire his chess play, but he had become something of an outlaw for breaking sanctions against Yugoslavia for the misdeeds of Slobodan Milosevic.

If this isn't an indication of hatred of Jews, then what is?

Quote:Fischer made numerous anti-Semitic statements and professed a general hatred for Jews since at least the early 1960s.[430][442] Jan Hein Donner wrote that at the time of Bled 1961, "He idolized Hitler and read everything about him that he could lay his hands on. He also championed a brand of anti-semitism that could only be thought up by a mind completely cut off from reality."[186] Donner took Fischer to a war museum, which "left a great impression, since [Fischer] is not an evil person, and afterwards he was more restrained in his remarks—to me, at least."[186]

From the 1980s on, Fischer's comments about Jews were a major theme in his public and private remarks.[443] He openly denied the Holocaust, and called the United States "a farce controlled by dirty, hook-nosed, circumcised Jew bastards".[444] Between 1999 and 2006, Fischer's primary means of communicating with the public was radio interviews. He participated in at least 34 such broadcasts, mostly with radio stations in the Philippines, but also in Hungary, Iceland, Colombia, and Russia. In 1999, he gave a radio call-in interview to a station in Budapest, Hungary, during which he described himself as the "victim of an international Jewish conspiracy". In another radio interview, Fischer said that it became clear to him in 1977, after reading The Secret World Government by Count Cherep-Spiridovich, that Jewish agencies were targeting him.[445] Fischer's sudden reemergence was apparently triggered when some of his belongings, which had been stored in a Pasadena, California, storage unit, were sold by the landlord, who claimed it was in response to nonpayment of rent.[446] Fischer was also upset that UBS bank had liquidated his assets and closed his account without his permission. When asked who he thought was responsible for the actions UBS had taken Fischer replied, "There's no question that the Jew-controlled United States is behind this — that's obvious."[447][448]

Fischer's library contained anti-semitic and racist literature such as Mein Kampf, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and The White Man's Bible and Nature's Eternal Religion by Ben Klassen, founder of the World Church of the Creator.[449][450] A notebook written by Fischer contains sentiments such as "12/13/99 It's time to start randomly killing Jews".[451] Despite his views, Fischer remained on good terms with Jewish chess players.[452]

My comment:

One has a right to dislike oneself and one's origins (which is different from hating what others do or have done to one's group, which one can deal with in humane and constructive ways), for example, hating an ancestor who abandoned one's family or sired you during an affair -- or especially a rape (which may explain much anti-white racism among many blacks -- it's about a great-great grandparent who raped one's slave ancestors, and one hates the white part of one's ancestry for such). Being of partial German origin I am reasonably certain that if I do genealogical research  I could easily find some seventh cousins or so as perpetrators of the Holocaust -- so I don't look as deeply for distant relatives in Germany as I do in England and Wales, where I have found some prominent people not so troublesome as distant relatives. Would I like to be connected to Max Planck or Paul Hindemith as I am connected to Bertrand Russell and George Orwell? Of course. Some guard at a camp, a sadistic physician who did inhuman experiments upon helpless prisoners, or some SS officer who mowed down Jews in Russia? Of course not!

I have known plenty of Jews and find them far closer to me in moral values and not that different in cultural values (this is America, and Jews have a disproportionate share of influence on American cultural life, mostly benign and accessible). One also has a right to loathe the evil-doers who might share some heritage. A Jew has the right to loathe Bugsy Siegel, the Rosenberg spy ring, and Bernie Madoff. Don't ask me what I think of John Dillinger... OK, I thoroughly loathe him. But not all connections are genealogical. I don't have to be Japanese to appreciate Hokusai, Greek to appreciate Plato, Spanish to appreciate Goya, or Jewish to appreciate Mahler.

If I had to choose between being a Jew or a Nazi, I would become a Jew, as I would have to make no moral or cultural compromises in converting to Judaism. A Nazi would destroy much that I appreciate in American life. But that is cheap. I hate the antisemitic claptrap that many of my relatives fed me as a child.

Some people still hate Jews so much that they would like to 'finish the job (the Holocaust)'. I can imagine a Jew keeping Mein Kampf or Protocols of the Elders of Zion as means of knowing the enemy, much as an anti-Communist might keep copies of the Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital, or quotations of Communist leaders from Lenin to Castro. Bobby Fischer is a traitor to American Jews. He's a great chess player, but Bill Cosby is or was a great comedian, too.

Hatred of Jews is really, really stupid. I don't know if his comments resulted in any harm to Jews. Having and sharing stupid and mean hatreds and believing in false conspiracy theories is often immoral and/or bad, but I doubt it compares to the other bad seeds on the list. Publically claiming to be a victim or a target is not so bad as advocating harm. But preaching hatred can be dangerous, that's true.

I have some German ancestry too, as a lot of white Americans do. I didn't find it easy to trace my lines in that direction, whereas there was a lot of info on my English lines online.

Looks like the bad apples keep falling from the "Tree"
https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2018/10...=emaildkbn

Reports now indicate 8 dead, with other reports giving numbers as high as 11

Congregants near the Tree of Life Synagogue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh were ambushed on Saturday morning by a man who opened fire with multiple weapons. According to on-scene reports, the shooter shouted “All Jews must die” as he was firing into those present.

At 11:30 ET, news reports indicate that 8 people have died, and 12 are wounded including at least 3 police officers who responded to the shooting. First reports of the shooting came in around 10:45 ET, while the web site for the Tree of Life shows that Shabbat services began at 9:45, suggesting that the gunman may have assaulted the congregation as the service was ending. Reports indicate that four people were killed on the main floor of the synagogue. The shooter then killed more people in the basement of the synagogue. One person may have been killed outside the building.

The shooter remained active for several minutes after officers appeared at the scene, but surrendered after having been wounded. Reports indicate that he was taken alive, but injured and was “crawling” when taking prisoner. Early reports are that the shooter was armed with an AR-15 style semi-automatic assault rifle, the same type of weapon used in many other mass shootings, as well as multiple handguns.

The Tree of Life Synagogue is the largest Jewish congregation in the Squirrel Hill area, which is one of the most heavily Jewish neighborhoods in the city. The statement of witnesses regarding the gunman’s shouts leaves little doubt about the purpose of this mass murder. Following the shooting, police departments in other cities, including the NYPD, ordered protection provided to synagogues and other facilities in their areas.

The suspect has been described as “a white male who has a beard.” Some reports have indicated that the shooter is a 46-year-old local resident. More information when it has been confirmed.

Robert Bowers, the Pennsylvania man accused of a fatal shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue Saturday morning, posted prolifically online about conspiracy theories and made repeated threats to Jews.

Bowers frequently wrote on the social network Gab, where he made a specific threat against Jews hours before allegedly conducting Saturday’s attack.

In the post, Bowers said that the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, a humanitarian aid nonprofit group that provides assistance to refugees, brought immigrants to the United States to do violence against others.

“Screw your optics, I'm going in," he wrote.

Bowers frequently posted about the “migrant caravan,” a group of several thousand refugees walking to the U.S.-Mexico border from Honduras to seek asylum. Preventing refugees in the caravan from entering the U.S. has been a major talking point among both right-wing commentators and President Donald Trump, who has spoken about it in recent pre-midterm election stump speeches.

Bowers’ anti-Semitic posts and his apparent disdain for the caravan are tied to a viral image that appears to show refugees hopping onto the bed of a truck that had a Star of David visible on the side. The image has been widely shared on far-right forums like 4chan and the Russian propaganda operation USA Really. He reposted a screenshot of a video of the caravan that aired on Fox News, as well as other networks, that does not mention the symbol.

Bowers frequently reposted conspiracy theories about the image of the truck and reposted comments about it from other Gab users....

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Eleven people have been killed and a number of others injured after a shooting at The Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill on Saturday.
https://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2018/10/...rrel-hill/

Police sources tell KDKA’s Andy Sheehan the gunman walked into the building and yelled, “All Jews must die.” Sheehan’s sources confirmed that eleven people were dead. No children are among the deceased.

Bowers was reportedly armed with an AR-15 and two handguns.

The initial call to 911 was made around 9:54 a.m. and officers were dispatched to the scene within a minute.

When officers arrived, the gunman reportedly shot at them, forcing officers to use their vehicles as a shield.

He also credited the first responders with preventing this from being a bigger tragedy than it already is.

KDKA’s Meghan Schiller reports that a suspect, a heavy-set white male with a beard, surrendered. The SWAT team had been talking with the suspect, and he was crawling and injured. It is unclear the extent of his injuries. He was taken into custody about 20 minutes after the initial call to 911.

KDKA sources confirm Sheehan that the suspect is 48-year-old Robert Bowers. It is believed that he acted alone.

News is still coming in, but we know that at least 10 people have been killed, that the shooter was a white man who entered the sanctuary yelling “kill all the Jews,” and that he might have specifically been motivated by the synagogue’s work supporting refugees and immigrants
