The IRS was interested in organizations that misused the 501c3 designation to avoid taxes. 90+% of them were RW front groups. That's what they found so that's where they looked. Demagoguing that as some attempt to harass and punish conservative groups only works if the IRS ignored other groups using the same techniques, or only acted on the conservative groups. They did neither. QED.
Where's your case? On the other hand, Lerner has a case against the harassing Congress for violations of the Civil Service Act.
