The best 4T songs

Not always. A 4T is a serious time and serious music has its place as well. For what it's worth, it made me smile the first time I heard it.  Big Grin

Closing in on the Eastern border
It’s a unicentric one world order
With Sino-Russian capitulation
It’s an orchestrated end of nations

Food prices soaring
As the sanctions kicked in
And all the hawks cried more
Oil prices falling
And the propaganda talks war
Minerva has decreed a state of attrition, hostilities
New Cold War!
New Cold War!
New Cold War!

In the Arctic wastes under sheets of ice
Mineral resources corporate forces eye
Occupation ensures supply
Colour-coded revolutions sustain the lie

Food prices soaring
As the sanctions kicked in
And all the hawks cried more
Oil prices falling
And the propaganda talks war
Minerva has decreed a state of attrition, hostilities
New Cold War!
New Cold War!
New Cold War!

Breaking in a cold sweat just like the good old days
The drum beat of hostilities has started to play
A perverted thrill reminiscent of the big chill
Hair trigger giving everyone a shiver

Food prices soaring
As the sanctions kicked in
And all the hawks cried more
Oil prices falling
And the propaganda talks war
Minerva has decreed a state of attrition, hostilities
New Cold War!
New Cold War!
New Cold War!

Kate Davis is incredible. She's a classically trained jazz musician but has been branching out with a lot of her own stuff.

Le Tigre reformed and made this song.  And this video, complete with pantsuits!  Heh...old people dancing.   Smile

lyrics can be found here:
http://pitchfork.com/news/68698-le-tigre...her-watch/

For those who don't know Le Tigre, they were (are) a band formed in the late 90s, a kind of punk rock fused with 80s synth pop.  The lead singer is Kathleen Hannah, who was a principal figure of the riot grrrl  movement of the early 90s and the lead singer of the punk band Bikini Kill, some songs of whose I posted on the "lost" thread about a week ago.

And yet Bikini Kill nixed "Rebel Girl" as a Hillary song. Strange.

Thumbs up tho!

It was Tobi Vail, a different member of Bikini Kill, that issued the copyright infringement notice.  Tobi is not part of Le Tigre.  Anyway, that was during the primaries.

Never said serious music does not have its place. But I can see why upbeat music has its place in these times. Escapism from the world which is darkening by the day. Upbeat music was popular with GIs. Musicals. I can see why. They needed something to cheer them up.

I like this 2014 neo-baroque, synthpop song from the UK. It recently replaced American Authors' " The Best Day of My Life " as the backing music for the ubiquitous ads for Graton Resort & Casino here in NorCal. I posted that song here too. "Rather Be," by Clean Bandit. The vocals at the end (used in the ad) remind of the 70s hit by the Emotions, " Best of My Love ," which made my top 400.

He's no sex symbol pop star, like Justin, and his voice is not very distinctive yet, but it's hard to ignore this guy. He's a young renaissance man; singer, pianist, composer, actor, comic....

This is very nice one that he wrote:

Anything is Possible (2011 I think. This performance is from 2014. He did an identical performance for PBS this month-- it may be the same one actually. It's also the theme for his movie.)

Ethan Bortnick (born Dec.24, 2000) is different from most pop stars in that he's a true prodigy, and performs music from all ages, for all ages. He was on Jay Leno's show at age 6, does national tours, and stars in PBS programs, where I just heard him for the first time. He gives Justin a run for his money with this motivational song.

Great title track from Justin Bieber's 2012 "Believe" album. A follow up to Pray, co-written with the same writers (including Nasri Atweh) of that great classic from Nov.2010.

Ramin Djawadi created the score for Game of Thrones, and now the new series Westworld--two shows I enjoy.  The music plays some part in that, I'm sure.

This western-themed orchestral arrangement of a familiar Rolling Stones song is pretty magnificent:

Didn't go through the whole forum but did anybody yet mention some of the Woody Guthrie classics from the last 4T? That 4T was also the heyday of the big bands--Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey et al.

We mentioned a lot of music from the last 4T on this thread: http://generational-theory.com/forum/thr...l#pid29397

We got stuck in the 1920s but we could push it back further; of course lots of 19th and 18th century classical to cover too.
