Trump hits new low in approval poll
#41
Here's the latest map for August 14 with no tossups allowed. According to my standard using https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/pol.../national/, states with less than 9 percent margin are leaning, 9-15 are likely, and 15 plus are solid. Red Republican and Blue Democratic. Map from https://www.270towin.com/maps/biden-trump-polling-map , using their estimate for states with no polling.

Current polls oversample Boomers and Democrats. Biden will not have a bump this convention, He will have a trough in numbers. Kamala hurts biden as polls immediately swung 10 points to Trump after the VP announcement; and that is not factoring in the massive under-sampling of Republicans, Independents, and Younger Voters of all political stripes and socioeconomic background.

Some pollster has assumed a "shy Trump supporter" as a commonplace phenomenon: someone who truly supports Trump but is scared to admit it. The phenomenon may have been real in 2016, but this isn't 2016 anymore.

Most Americans read the news about US wars, debt, and tyranny and feel powerless to do anything, but is surrender the only answer?

Can't Americans buy guns, gold, and food today and warn Americans about the US decline?

Can't Americans stop paying taxes so that the government will collapse?

In order: no, maybe, absolutely not.

Too many Americans read too little news, relying upon broadcast news for what often proves disinformation. We can do better.

Quote:Can't Americans buy guns, gold, and food today and warn Americans about the US decline?

We can certainly buy guns, gold, and food... but guns make no sense except for sport hunters.  Gold has value only as a hedge against inflation. Food has never been so cheap as a share of people's living costs unless they have the habit of going to "Whole Paycheck" Foods.

Quote:Can't Americans stop paying taxes so that the government will collapse?

No, but some can practically drop out of the consumer economy. If enough do or are consigned to such, then we are all in big trouble.

How can you deal with Americans when
Americans look you in the eye and say that Elvis is alive today and Jimmy Carter died years ago?

Americans look like they have been punched in the gut.

Americans have lost their minds and are blinded by hate.

Americans have tunnel vision now and make up any fact to fit their narrative.

Americans scream that the US has always had TSA groping.

Communists swear Hillary is innocent.

Nazis insist that Trump ended the wars, paid off the debt, and restored the Bill of Rights.

Marxists seem to realize that they are insane, but Fascists cannot see hypocrisy.

Americans love the government and vehemently attack anyone who criticizes their beloved government overlords.

Disgusting.

The solution to that is to completely discount what follows because people with poor command of the facts get horrible conclusions even with solid logic.

Quote:Americans look like they have been punched in the gut.

That's what four years of Donald Trump will do!

Quote:Americans have lost their minds and are blinded by hate.

Some have; many haven't.

Quote:Americans have tunnel vision now and make up any fact to fit their narrative.

All of us seem to have some set of ideology as a blinder, but eventually reality overpowers ideology. If ideology is nothing more than values, then values are unassailable. There are people who believe that they have some entitlement to abuse children, and nothing can remove that belief -- only take away the opportunity.

Quote:Americans scream that the US has always had TSA groping.

We haven't always had the TSA.

Quote:Communists swear Hillary is innocent.

She is innocent.

Quote:Nazis insist that Trump ended the wars, paid off the debt, and restored the Bill of Rights.

Nazis love war, run up huge debt because they expect the defeated to pay for their conquest, and reinterpret the Bill of Rights until it has no meaning.

Quote:Marxists seem to realize that they are insane, but Fascists cannot see hypocrisy.

Sanity is all too often the least of problems of Marxists. They often have a cold logic -- but little conscience or compassion. Pure logic is not enough for functioning as a moral person. Hypocrisy indicates that one falls short of values that one expresses... in practice I have found that the only non-hypocrites are the sorts of people proud of their own evil.

Quote:Americans love the government and vehemently attack anyone who criticizes their beloved government overlords.

We keep looking for someone who solves problems at the other guy's expense.

Quote:Disgusting.

Do you have any practical solution?

Having pride in a police state is difficult.

Why work hard if the government will just take everything you have through inflation, fines, fees, forfeiture, and taxes?

Why join the military if every country you fight is just as shitty as your own?

Why excel in the Olympics if your success will become the state success? Instead
of working hard because of carrots, police states must force everyone to do something with sticks.

The only realistic option in a police state is to dropout and go Galt.

If we ever have a police state we would be wise to have shame instead of pride.

Quote:Why work hard if the government will just take everything you have through inflation, fines, fees, forfeiture, and taxes?

Most systems try to keep price level stable. Fines and forfeitures are possible consequences for bad behaviors. Fees are often sneaky taxes. Taxes are a cost of having a social order that works.

Quote:Why join the military if every country you fight is just as shitty as your own?

In a thoroughly-rotten system, conscientious objection may be punishable by death.

Some people love athletic competition and do it for its own sake.

The nightmare that Ayn Rand sees, a nominally-capitalist society that has been gutted of the profit motive is a dystopia. So is her posited alternative, a social order in which profit is the only purpose in life. As I come to think of it, Ronald Reagan's baby steps in the Rand model are a step into a dystopia, and Trump's ideology suggest what happens when a Yorkshire terrier grows into something tiger-like in size and with the same behavior as a Yorkie.

How would you feel if you just 10 minutes
trying to explain to someone that the USA used to be a free country and fought
Communists and Nazis and then be told that toothpicks must be banned?

Toothpicks would be the least of my concerns.

Exactly.

No one cares if Trump uses a teleprompter, but Americans lose their minds if Biden does.

No one cares if gunowners are arrested, but Americans become batshit insane if protesters are jailed.

Americans don't mind if Trump cheats on his wife, but Americans would become raving nutjobs if Biden did.

Earlier, people were troubled that Obama was using a Teleprompter, ignoring that he edited what went on it and wanted to be sure that he said everything he thought worthy and necessary to say. He had good people checking it to ensure that it had no ambiguities or grammatical errors.

What is the difference between reading a Teleprompter and a  sheet of paper? I suppose that some would argue that if Abraham Lincoln didn't use one it would be cheating if Obama used one. The only obvious reason for Lincoln not using one is that a Teleprompter was not available in his time!

In contrast we remember Trump's tweets, stream-of-conscience statements that nobody checked for grammar, factual content, misspellings, ambiguities, or offensive content. They were complete as they went, which is about like saying that "F--- y--!" is a complete expression. Messages such as those would have never slipped out of the Obama-era White House.

Quote:No one cares if gunowners are arrested, but Americans become batshit insane if protesters are jailed.

Obviously people who own a gun with criminal intention or who take it to a place in which it is inappropriate (for example a bar or an airport) may be arrested and convicted. Peaceful protests are licit, but nobody has the right to interfere with a lawful arrest or a legislative session. Not-so-peaceful protesters are fair game for arrest, and nobody needs claim that a rioter, looter, vandal, or arsonist is a protester.

Quote:Americans don't mind if Trump cheats on his wife, but Americans would become raving nutjobs if Biden did.

I mocked Bill Clinton as the "First Fornicator" for his sexual escapades, setting myself for similar mockery of Donald Trump. "Thou shalt not commit adultery" is one of the Ten Commandments, and it exists for good reason. Adultery devastates families, destroying the security that children need and deserve. Most cultures have tolerated sex before marriage, but mandated a marriage if such an adultery were detected.

Americans think that Trump is the problem,
but the real problem is that Biden and Trump are both controlled by the Deep State.

No one sees this.

The Deep State simply wants to stay alive. It has privilege to protect, and it knows enough to make sure that the common man has a stake in the system. It does not want revolution, and it does not want any Twilight of the Gods.
